I'm currently running on a 56K connection. I have a up-to-date software firewall and virus checker running. Is this adequate protection for an ADSL connection (single connection - no network this side) with a static IP address. Can anyone make suggestions as to product recommendations?

Ta in advance.

No products specificly, but make sure you use either a good one or at least an up to date on, if a good one is not availabe.
Also, dont use IRC/ICQ or any other of those trojans you can downlaod. PC-PC conection = bye bye :(

Personally i use Zonealarm , not sure about how good others are , but i don't seem to have had any hackers in my system as yet with it .

Currently using ZA pro , ran hacker tests against my connection , came back with all ports stealthed and no evidence of a computer at my IP :p

I use the Norton Internet Security package, it seems to do the job, haven't had a virus, a trojan or hacking attepmt on my system since then.

I went through a load of reviews of firewalls, all had bad points of course but Zone Alarm shone through the others:

Over the years Ive found Norton products to be less and less reliable / stable or value. McAfee aint too shabby, but again still no where near as easy to use or as infomative as ZA. However i do use McAfee virus.

Zone alarm stealths your PC unlike some of the others. I think this makes your PC invisible to hackers, so if your IP is pinged no results are returned (some guru tell me thats right?)

That's cool - I'm currently using ZA as my firewall. I just wasn't sure whether that was enough for a static IP ADSL connection. I guess it probably is.

Thanks all
