Im having problems running daoc on the PC networked to this one. I've installed the game, patched it and when i went to run it i get an error:

"Runtime Error!

Program C:\ToA\game.dll

abnormal program termination"

Anyone any idea what's causing this? Im using direct x9, latest video drivers etc. I tried copying the game.dll over from this machine to the other, but get the same error.

PC specs are:

Operating System: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor, MMX, 3DNow, ~1.2GHz
Memory: 512MB RAM
Card name: NVIDIA GeForce3 Ti 200
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0 (4.09.0000.0900)

That message just means that TOA has crashed, something is missing I would guess if it doesnt work on both machines, tried a full reinstall or clicking the check all files box?

Do other DirectX games work on that PC? Check you have plenty of free disk space.

Hmm running out of ideas, guess theres always video card drivers they can do all types of stuff...

the pc was recently formated.. about a week ago, so space isnt a problem. well its strange, because planetside wont work on it either, i get a similar error.
The shrouded isles client works, to an effect. i can get to the character selection screen then it goes all wierd, ill post a pic
when i try and play that character it crashes back to desktop

Bumping this old thread!

I have now this "runtime error" problem on my other comp

i tried the "fail safe" settings (as mention in a similar thread) in the BiOS but still the same problem :/

Anyone have any other ideas on what to do?

Reinstall DirectX...
By your saying SI client works (SI doesn't use Direct3D v.9 afaic) and ToA+ doesn't it sounds like some D3D9 issue to me... or might also be some D3D9 feature collides with your gfx card settings... try to reset them to default.

At all circumstances, use only ForceWare/ATI catalyst official GPU manufacturer drivers, not the card manufacturer modified craps.
