I'm considering upgrading and I'm looking at this motherboard with a view to move to a P3 1GHz

I'm currently on a

C300A @450
Abit BH-6 motherboard
512MB RAM (Can only use 256MB due to motherboard!!)
GeForce DDR

I'm also looking at Athlons. I want to keep things like memory etc.

Naaaaaaaaaaah I'd go to an Athlon based system now m8, or even better; hold out a coupla months for AMD's new palomino chips and see which mobo's support 'em.

The P3 is dead. When I next upgrade, it's off to AMD for me.

Intel is overpriced and can't be OC'd enuff now.. When you see some of the latest TBIRDS with a certain stepping code going from 1GHz OC'd to 1500MHz with air cooling, you know AMD are onto somethin' good, specially with their prices.

See ya point and am now thinking the same, spent the day looking into it. I'm gonna get my SCSI CD Set-up first and then look at moving, but as I've got a shed load of memory (PC100 unfortunately) I don't want to waste it either.

What I'm now thinking is Abit KT7A with a 950 Athlon, would be nice....

Memory is still pretty cheap atm. Best buy some new stuff cos the prices are starting to rise. We won't see prices like this for a loooooooooong time :(

a 900Mhz tbird goes for ~220 euro [give or take a few] here in holland, an 800Mhz Duron for less than 100

Is mixing memory possible, ie running PC100 with PC133 as I assume the motherboard would manage it????????

Only if they're all run at the same speed. Also some memory modules won't run with some others on some motherboards :)
