I have always used A3D when playing CS but its stopped working. I get this error message,

EAX:QUERYSUPPORT FOR DSPROPSETIOD_EAX_REVERB PROPERTIES FAILED USING SECONDRY SOUND BUFFER.

Any 1 got any ideas.

EAX is used by sounblaster live cards and not A3D based ones; make sure EAX is disabled in the sound options. That's all I can think it might be.
