Yesterday I did something I dont remember ever having done before.

For the last couple of weeks I've been working at a major franchise selling commercial vehicles. This is after being made redundant from my old job back in May.

Now when I was made redundant I had cover for mortgage protection, and ppi on my bank loan, and was paid quite a few quid considering I'd only been there a three years. So I did my months paid "gardening leave" then was officially unemployed. Looked around, and decided on a job I wanted, and went for an interview. Got to the second interview and then something rather unusual happened - I didnt get the job :( This is unusual because over the years of my life I've been pretty good at interviews, basically I'm just a big headed bastard who likes talking about himself :)

Anyway, in a state of shock I applied the job at the commercial vehicles franchise, got the job, and started on 2 July.

Straight away I was concerned. The sales manager had just left, so had one of the reps, and another was leaving on friday. I had no desk, no pc, no log in to sell finance (kind of important when you're selling £20000+ vehicles) and no idea of how thier systems worked, despite asking over and over again. I was given a brochure and told to swat up on thier products. This I did for a couple of days.

By now I'm thinking is this job right? Am I being a big girl because I've just started, and will everything be fine in a couple of weeks? I decided on the latter, and signed off the dole, thus cancelling ppi amd mortgage cover etc.

Two days later I began to think I'd made a big mistake. Still no log in, nothing.

Friday comes, and yay! I get a desk! Saturday, I sell a vehicle for cash, £17500 no less. Monday comes, "oh Mark yes we've got your finance stuff sorted, will be in August".

AUGUST?!?!? By now I'm stressing out a lot. Still no real clue how things actually work, the other saleman has now left, and I'm getting twitchy. My mobile rings, its a company offering me an interview doing my old job, debt collection. I put the phone down, stand up (from my new desk!) go over to my boss, and say hello mate, I quit. "Err. When??" "Now" says me.

And I walk out :)

What I've done I realise, is I've lost my entitlement to ppi etc, I've lost my dole claim, everything.

So, I'm dealing with this the best way I know. I'm going on holday tomorrow :D

Well, I've had another call from another company, offering me a job starting Aug 2, so hopefully that will be fine, I expect it will to be honest.

Looking for some advice are you Yaruar?

You're a brave man to quit before you had anything else sorted Throddy, but it sounds like it was a good place to leave quickly. Hope it does all work out for you.

I quit too, though i did it with a 4 month payment included so it was a bit different.

It's a bit of a risky move, as always, but you can survive most things that life throws at you and you can live with very little.

There are no wrong decisions when it effects your life, every step is a step in(depends on beliefs) A; path you're on B; something new.

I was expecting some form of canestan cream to be involved in the resolution of this thread. I share the above mentioned disappointment.

I often quit jobs, well I have in the past, if something or someone pisses me off I tell them to fuck off and just leave. I have always been a happiness over money sort of person.

I quite like this job I'm in now but the rages are starting to build in my brain so lets see how it goes.

I do have no mortgage though so maybe I am slightly more reckless than I should be.

Nice one though throdlar!

I need a transit van with a fridge in the back, what will I do now Throd?!?!

I also like the way you say you're good at interviews. You probably just tell them you have a shotgun, right? :D

Interviewer: Hi Throd, please sit down. Tell me about yourself Throd.
Throd: I have a shotgun.
Interviewer: Ok well how d..You can start today.
Throd: Great. Thanks!
Interviewer: You might aswell take the rest of the day off, there's not much to do really anyway. Would you like a coffee before you go?
Throd: No, that's alright. I get paid in cash btw.
Interviewer: Ofcourse you do Mr. Throd, here have an advance.
Throd: Ok, cya later!

Hell no, fuck them they take me on for a job thats primarily commission based then give me little or no opportunity to earn any commission.

Anyway, just back from a few days holiday, much more chilled, all is well ;)
