If you were to accidently reverse into another car doing minor damage to it, though incurring none to your own vehicle, and nobody saw you what would *you* do?

(the fact that you may have either been drunk/stoned/both/sober/having sex also has relevence...)

Discuss.

Some utter, utter blind cunt did this to my car once. Looked at CCTV footage in the car park and the fucker wasn't on it. Cost a £100 repair with Dent Devils, that was mucho cheap compared to garage quotes.

Depending on the car you hit, try and make some contact with the owner.

Mrs wil did this once, and we waited around for a while, but no-one showed, so we left a note with our mobile number, no-one contacted us.

At least we made the effort.

I'd take the time to key the other car rather badly, scratch drawings onto the bonnet and stuff twelve bananas up the tailpipe

seriously, I'd prolly wait around a bit, then leave...

You could never be sure you *weren't* on CCTV footage somewhere and it'd be really shit to get caught that way, you'd look like an utter cunt. So I'd do what Wilier did, leave a note with contact number.

Although if it was, like, out in the countryside or on a desert island or somewhere with not even the remotest chance of CCTV cameras anywhere I'd probably just fuck off.

Mind you the other car would have to be made out of papier mache or something for it to get dented and mine to not get hurt, my car seems to dent if you shout at it loudly :(

sneak in to the building with the CCTV tapes, tranq the guard, nip over the counter and take the tapes. Hop back in your car, reverse and make another dent for good measure, then speedly drive away.

Terrorists win.

Too right i would, but ive just proved i aint a read scouser:

Real Scouser

Hit the car accidentally, gets out the Car, opens the backdoor and takes out Baseball Bat. Proceeds to smash all the windows.
Nick the tires, get back in car and drive away.

I been a victim more often; one big crunch down the door, little dents here and there, the obligatory bike/trolley handle in the boot door, I lost count of the number of mirrors :(

Round where I live in east London, no-one gives a shit, and you risk a beating or scamming if you open your heart and admit anything.

One of my mates got back to his car in a supermarket car park a few months ago to find a small dent in the side where someone had obviously driven into it. He also found a note on his windshield saying "xyz hit your car" with a number. Rang it and spoke to the person - turns out she'd seen this bloke drive into his car, and recognised him. The bloke, who would (had he admitted it) have to pay about £50 to get it repaired, now has 6 points on his license and had to pay a fine of £500.

happened to me once.

Visiting friends who lived in a cul-de-sac with no street lights.

Parked in their driverway and the prick across the road parked his BLACK BMW with TINTED windows directly across the road from the driverway.

We set to leave (about 11pm in the Winter). Checked my mirrors (as always) and reversed out.

Felt the car bump and thought I had hit the kerb on the other side of the road". However, it was the BMW I had hit.

Did the honourable thing and knocked the guys door (only cos one of the neighbours [you know the type - twitchy curtain syndrome] had spotted me)

Cost about £200 - I still blame the FKING idiot for parking across from the driveway.

My dad once bought a BRAND new car, he'd never had one new before. About two weeks old parked on the roadside outside his home, some twat hit it with a fecking trailer, and did a runner. We heard the noise, went outside and it was like someone took a can opener to it..

bastards.

Moral: dont buy new, or something. :(

Nos - same sort of damage on my car, from that stupid hire lorry that tried to run my wife off the road, but in my case I had no recourse and would've lost my no claims bonus, the dent is still there :(

Cheapest option was in fact getting a fairly undamaged door from a breakers (£50), a new outside trim (£20), then doing a respray (£40 ?) and swapping the interior panels and any other missing bits. Even the more serious garages were prepared to do it for under £200 once they knew it was not an insurance rip-off job.

I can live with the dent for now, every so often I'll ring the breakers to see if I can get a same coloured door and save even more money and aggro :)

Reversing lights are mainly to indicate to other drivers, not to see with.
