Normally we get these "What's new?" and "Worth coming back?" threads all the time. Now i'm asking something else from the community.

I left a bit after Shrouded came, not because it sucked or f*cked the game up(like some say), but because i didn't have time to play. Then when i started playing MMO again, i went through EVE and then to SW:G.

Now i'm going to ask something from the community:

What reasons are there NOT to come back to DAoC?

I don't want to hear if the game is good like this or excellent like this, i want to hear reasons why i should not come back. :D

The lack of depth rvr has (for me)

after running in emain for over 2 mil rps it doesnt really get much more interesting, only easier..
for me it lacks the skill and enormous amount of speed, concentration and coordination you need like with some other games (ofc it doesnt completely lack it because 8 players of a group have to play like 1), being a ex-premiership tfc player and really really really enjoyed these kind of games...
tho i liked daoc alot, i want something new in RvR (and with that i dont mean a next generation shitloot (artifacts) or "pve only rvr bugged" abilities (mls))

Also, unlike other games, this game doesnt have a real league or anything, the longer you play the stronger you become (your characther), while in other games you have to play vs tougher and tougher opponents each time you win a 'match', with both perfectly equal chances...

but ofc that is the way RPG's work...

hope there will be a planetside like daoc someday, with a combat system like Rune or Die by the Sword like thing, would r0x

oh yes and the game takes alot of time.........

Game Imbalance (RvR)

Thats the main reason im moving this year, had enough of the constant rush to get a L50, then the grind to level artifacts... then the realm levels - just so you can be on par with other people who play the game... PvE only now for me.

If you enjoy the comminity, and enjoy the mixture of PvE and RvR, then DAOC really is the best fantasy based MMORPG and will be for the future, there really is NO reason NOT to come back if you have the time to spare.

If you hated waiting around for hours for a certain named mob to join, then you won't much like the TOA expansion, especially when you start wanting the artifacts from it.

Alos, because of the artifacts (in addition to the realm abilities I'm sure you're used to) RvR favours the 24-7 players much more than before.

Realms aren't balanced, Mythic should've had less classes to start with.
DAoC is a good game if you and seven friends have lots of time to play it, but the casual player will have a frustrating experience, overall.

I'm still working on(or pretending to be) getting all of my chars ToA'd. If ever I finish, Catacombs will be out. So I'm thinking, do I wait for Catacombs and spend another 300hours+ PvE on each character, or should I start playing WoW when it comes out, spend ~200hours to get a lv60 and start PvP'ing. atm WoW is alot more tempting - if it's shallow in the long run, I'll buy Catacombs :p

Guildwars bud, no skill = no win. No huge timesinks like DAoC and no sitting at APKe for 3 hours a day forming groups/buffing. Much more of a 'wham, bam, thank you mam!' kind of MMORPG which is no bad thing imo.

Leveling artifacts is a pain in the bum, stealth zergs are a pain in the bum but you know what they say ''if you cant beat them, may aswell join them.''

Tbh i'd say RvR is quite fun at times, but can be suck evilness some other times with all you fotm's ! :) But if you get RR5+ and decent artifact levels then tbh you'd own.

NF should bring lots of oppertunities for a range of differnt people. From people that can't level due to they cant stick to characters, or they just totally suck compared to l33t stealthers (eg. Tdaer etc) but it should bring oppertunities for many people to rejoin the DAoC community.

Other reasons why not to join daoc;
leveling from 1-20 is a pain in the arse due to no groups.
------------------------------------------------------

Well i play mid/excal atm, if you come back to the realm of DAoC contact ''Playfair'' and i'll surely sort you out with abit of items, armor, weapons and so on and so forth! Well good luck Tohi

Unless you can give long hours to this game RvR is not an option any more. I dont know when you left or what state your toons were in when you left but I will say this ...... RvR has become less and less of an option with each update and expansion.
The gulf between casual and hardcore players is massive now. Pick up groups in emain are now RP cows.
New Frontiers ( the next major expansion @ 1.70 ) may go a little way towards allowing casual players back into RvR since its seems to benifit zerg tactics but for me its gonna be too late I'm affraid. Just bought Final Fantasy XI and will fill my time with that till World of Warcraft is released.
Final Fantasy is NOT the answer by the way. Its just a time sink till WoW is released.
As it stands at the moment the biggest problems with DAoC are... (this is only my opinion btw its not written in tablets of stone and they are in no particular order either .... I just listed them as they popped into my head.)..

1. Realm imbalance (Both in terms of toons abilities and numbers).
2. Buffbots.
3. TOA abilities (If you dont go through yet another XP/level grind you aint got them and if you think getting your first char to level 50 was bad .... wait till you get a load of this shit).

Theres probably a load more that other guys may care to add as they may see it from a different character/realms viewpoint.
There also seems to be a different atmosphere to DAoC these days. In times past it seemed people were far more willing to help each other both in leveling and realm defence. Now it seems if you aint with the right guild/alliance you seem to be pretty much on your own.
But hey ... if you got the software already and an account from previous play time you might as well give it a go. Whats it gonna cost you? A months subscription? Go without beer for a day and its paid for :p
