A question for you.

I have managed to drag a friend into the game from AC, and I was wondering what is the best “duo” to level together?

On Albion it is deemed that a Pally and Theurg are one of the best duo’s due to their complimentary skills, so which are best on Midgard?

Also, can I seek some advice on race and starting stats for both characters, and the final skill levels we should be aiming for on each.

I know it’s lots of info, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Ash

shaman + melee

or healer + caster

No class is overtly bad these days, and with the combinations above, you'll have little downtime

Silverhood said it spot on. My warrior groups with a shaman and reds go down easily...and my BD groups with a healer too, fast xp. Hmm lifetap and PoM :)

Shaman and a zerker or savage drop mobs very quickly with no downtime, the damage warriors and thanes do make them take a fair bit longer to drop mobs, but as they are more defensive they can take higher cons. Basically end regen rules though with the shammy.

Healer and caster works well but wont be quite as effective as the shammy/melee (Pac spec healer has power regen)

Healer/sup sm kinda owns aswell. Buffpet send it off and pull in 8 ish yellow cons. AEstun, pbaoe, pbaoe, pbaoe heal pet pull another 8 and so on.

Generally a decent AUG shammy and any tank will be great, fastest are zerker and savage but warriors and thanes have better defence, skalds have speed of travel and chain to take the blows.

Generally I stick to chainpulling yellows and oranges, exp over time is great and especially savages, who tank 3-4 yellows/orange at once can make a group of two massive exp.

Caster + healer also works but is more slow.

I think Pac Healer-Supp SM would out-level the Shammy-Zerker combo, but would be trickier (and riskier) to play.

Starting out on a new server the Healer-SM would have significantly fewer cash-flow problems as they would be taking out multiple yellows rather than single oranges, and would not need the armour/weapons. If you've got twink-cash then this isn't a problem.

Thane's are great PvE chars. Hardhitters, decent defense, nice pulling.

Wish they were better in RvR however.

Thanks ..but

Thanks for the advice.

The Savage and Shaman seems a good combo (as I don't have either atm), so could I ask for some advice on:

a) The starting stats I should plumb for on each character.
b) The specification I should be heading towards for each character.
c) The combat style (if I have a choice) on the Savage.

I have to admit I know very little of the Middy Characters (other than my Skald and Pac Healer) and so would appreciate some guidance.

Thanks

Ash

I'm not too sure on the savage details, but i hear most spec 2 handed up to level 20 and then respec to h2h..something to do with the styles. Ragnarok is your man for savage info.

With regards to the shaman, if your plan is to make him the most effective when its just the 2 of you xping, go for primarily aug and mend as a secondary line..you will really want those endurance regens and uber buffs. I'd go for 42 minimum aug as here u get the best endurance regen...I think with that spec u can also get about 30 mend, which is nice.

If one of you plans to play the shaman then i would never take Aug to 42, if you take it 37 and get the buff RA then you will Max your buffs, and have enought points left over to make the shammy fun in RvR. I would keep aug and mend high til 40, then at 40 respec the mend into cave. Final spec would be 37a 15m 36c.

32 Aug 41 Cave 14 Mend

Aim for that and ur Shammy friend will love it, very balanced for a non-main healing class.

Sod healing, ur no good at it anyway :D

Zerk+Shammy[buff/heal] is one of the Nicest combos in the game imo... chaining reds = Uber xp. as with Pac Healer+supp SM is abit more risky but even better xp if u can find the right spots with loads of high yellow/low oranges, pet pull em, get em bunched up, ae stun em and blam, blam, blam.

If alb i would think ShieldPally+Friar would b an awsome team.. and orcourse, Necro+Necro

for hib u would wanna do Bard+Champ [mu favourite], ManaChanter+Druid, ManaChanter+ManaMent, ManaChanter+Bard... [damn them chanters.. damn them to hell :p]

Thanks … a last question …

Thanks for the advice guys. We are going Shammy/Savage combo. I don’t have a Shamen at the moment, so it will be a new character, and the Savage looks interesting. The Shamen looks fun not having healing as a main role (there are healers for that?), so I will go the 32 Aug 41 Cave 14 Mend route I think.

A final question though.

It seems most Shamens are Trolls, so I will go Troll, but what should the Savage be, a Dwarf or a Kobby?

Dwarf if u wanna be 'ard! tons of more hp and better str than the koboldt.
Kobbie if u wanna be evading ALOT at later levels..

Dwarf savages with h2h looks like a fat kid brawling, its kinda cool:)

Summoning SM. Trust me, its insane the number of mobs you can cream per hour with a healer to back it up, partly because you don't need to pull just one mob at a time. Send buffed pet into crowd, get agro, switch on focus damage shield. Healer does tiny heals to keep it alive and won't get agro because output from damage shield far exceeds it.

The problem you get is to find big enough spawns to fight. :)
