A question about Axe styles - havoc and plague?

Been looking over some combat logs of fighting various people...

And to me, it seems that plague does more damage than havoc...

surely, it should be the other way around?

Or is it just me?

hmm, this was from killing teoz some time ago

Dead teoz

As you can see, plague does a lot more dmg overall...
But the style damage is about the same..
Maybe it's just damage variance, but so much? I have 51 in axe I think

damage variance is very huge, at least from what i have experienced with my Warrior, also specced 50 in axe...

Plague has high damage, and havoc has medium (slap me if i'm wrong).

I mostly use plague RvR, and rather look at havoc as another okay style that gives access to a better style again.

In my experience, plague does 10-50 more damage.

Some time ago I tested Havoc and Tyr's damage over hundreds of swings and also included Plague in the comparison and found that Havoc on average did outdamage Plague. Unfortunately I can't find the logs. :( If I recall correctly the difference in style damage was around 10%.

I haven't noticed any real changes in axe style damage last few patches so kinda doubt something changed recently. Could always rerun tests.

At any rate it's hard to say anything meaningful on the numbers in the screenshot above. Plague hit for 108 while Havoc hit for 111 and 99. Variance bites.

Plague has a godawful penalty to defence though.
