Official Banter Thread

Updated from the slightly misleading thread as per before :eek:

Please could we keep the links to unrelated threads/random bollocks, out of the sticky or important threads. By all means talk complete bollox, but please try to not spill it over into threads that are used for the purposes of giving information or when people are asking valid,related questions and can't see shite :p

please do NOT delete any forum threads whatsoever. The moderators job is not to censor the forums. We are encouraging discussion here. Just about any conversation wanders into other areas. You can close threads and point people to more apprpriate places but do not delete threads (obvious exclusions apply ie. porn etc).

It's an overexaggeration, but I felt it was appropriate as pip was basically dictating rules to us. Rules not even backed by GAME.

Well the reason this was here..

Was not as it's actually use (Admittedly worded wrongly first post) but when a discussion about times of games etc etc, would have a link to a thread about Chairs or somesuch thrown into it. Followed by a rush of chair related talk in 2 or 3 dif threads. When a few people are still trying to empart information or receive related to an organised game etc etc. Discussion going onto other stuff is fine. But not in a sticky thread with information people want but is made harder by links to "TEH CHAIRSSS THREAD"

First of all I would like to state that the first post in this thread has been altered very much so by Deadmanwalking.

I have never been opposed to any banter in this or any other forum. I had a discussion with Deadmanwalking yesterday evening after his ranting in #bwadmins, the conversation went down the line of : Deadmanwalking did not want any so called 'drivel'/off topic stuff on the forums, unless it was topic related!.

After dicussing it with him, he agreed that he would allow a banter thread on this forum or he would start deleting various threads/posts.

I find it disgusting that he has the audacity to edit my thread/post and make me out to look the bad guy. The only Hitler in this forum is Deadmanwalking.

Lets all be at peace, I don't think your a hitler pip your idea or not. Was just getting my (anger fueled) point across.

Whoever's idea it was, I think its clear that the majority of the users in this forum like all the drivel and mindless off-topic posts. Please feel free to correct me if I am not speaking for you.

I think you're right Chet, though I thought the Hitler thing was a bit over the top :p

When I first joined the BW forums I only really used the HL/CS one. It felt safe and homely compared to the big bad world of the General Forum. More and more I have moved into that world, though no one could accuse me of being a spammer, and have been saddened to see this forum dying since the servers emptied.

It is nice though to be able to talk drivel in here, a smaller and more closely knit community than the General forum, and to feel safe from the flamings that such drivel attracts, if you're not in the 'in crowd' ;) .

I am very happy with the idea that such talk be kept out of the stickies though, as has been said they are there for information. I aam intrigued that we need seven of them though, I'd have thought that the information they contain could be distilled a little. When I log on at work, on our lovely 14" screens, it can take several minutes to scroll past them all.

I completely agree.

Ch3tan, I am at peace but did not appreciate the Hitler comment when I had done nothing wrong.
The thread title and my post was as stated before completely edited by DMW which was totally unprofessional.

I am not prepared to discuss this subject anymore on the forum as I feel it would be unprofessional to do so any further

Yeah, Im all for keeping the bs out of the stickied threads, even if we have too many :)
But the original thread DID NOT say that, it implied that all off topic stuff should and could ONLY be posted in this thread, or else it would be deleted.
Hence my instant reaction via the badger thread ;)
That was too much, totally against any kind of code here at bw, and not sanctioned by anyone who makes such decisions anyway. Hence Ch3tans response in the form of shouting, and mine in the form of badgers lol
DMW you edit posts far too much imo m8.

here is an idea. Merge the preview server stickies. The new irc channel thread could be unstickied as it is mentioned in the read this first thread.

How about one thread for all the organised games, and one with all the required patches for all the different mods and server IPs, divided by game?

In fact, it could probably all go one one giant thread, preferably locked.;)
