Right i need to buy 'my better half' a PC, one that can play todays stuff, but doesnt have to be top of the range. Just enough so she can play WoW happly. Dont want to get anything old too, gotta last a year or 2. So nothing with AGP / older processors.

Now i found this on a , dare i say it, Dell site. technically its a bussiness PC as its with Vista bussiness, but i dont think thats an issue?

Components

  • Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600 Processor (2.4GHz,1066MHz,4MB cache)

Genuine Windows Vista™ Business - English

1 Year Base Warranty - Collect & Return

    2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]

    500GB Serial ATA RAID 0 Stripe [2x250GB 7200rpm drives with DataBurst™ cache]

    256MB nVidia™ GeForce 8600GTS graphics card

    16x DVD +/- RW Drive

Dell™ Enhanced USB Multimedia Keyboard - UK/Irish (QWERTY)

Now thats a whopping £528.82 including VAT & Shipping

any thoughts or better deals about?

btw thats from The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

Shes getting my old PCs bits so no need for monitor keyboard mouse ect. Shes not an avid gamer or anything but likes to surf and play WoW. Willing to spend around £600 but i can go over if its a realy good bargin.

Use the DELL outlet, and buy a screen at Dixons. That machine is nice, minus the Vista bit... The GFX card could use an upgrade, but WoW will work with it enough. Processor can be seriously OCd with correct cooling.

Should be fine, possibly a bit of overkill, WoW will run on pretty much anything, even with the pretties turned on

personally i think that's overkill, i tend to up grade my machine every 2 years, then pass my old bits (still fully able to play just about anything at that point) to the wife. for my wife, its more about the look/feel of keyboard/monitor/mouse that matters, not the power of the machine.

WoW can play on most integrated video card parts so the 8600 will have no problem. The RAM/CPU I think is good but maybe as people have said, overkill - Ultimately I would aim at a lower spec machine, but get a bigger screen - I plan to get a XPS lappy soon so gonna buy an extra screen so I can WoW and watch DVDs.
