Get a gametime card - 3 months for 50ish Euros, I think.

Agreed, one of my main motivations for buying the game was to have the free month as a try-out.... In the end I just gave up and paid for it, fortunately after a few hours in game i've enjoyed so hopefully haven't wasted my money

Your card doesn't get charged until the end of the free month, and you can cancel your sub before then.
