Sad news chum, I am going to steer away from pedigree breeds in the future, I get the feeling they die far too early and any dog that dies early breaks my heart.

old friend of mine from school trained up as a vet was telling me how ill and fucked up pure breeds can get. They often have really bad genes and very serious problems ranging from breathing through to huge liklihood of heart problems or cancer.

I'd go with the most diverse dog I could find if I were to get one. I am thoroughly against crufts and other dog shows where it's all about the pure breeds.

Same here man. I got staffies, always have done. Everytime theres a headline or something about somebody getting mauled by a pooch you can guarntee theres going to be a staff mentioned somewhere. Nothing to do with the dogs its how they are brought up like.

Grew up with my parents having them, last one died far too young (was only 6 :<), but there great dogs, good fun, never ever were vicious to anyone at all.

Damn makes me miss them now. qq.

I <3 Rotties. Many years ago, my brother got one from a rescue centre. He brought it around mums house the same day I introduced the then girlfriend...
"Hi, this is my new gf Cassie, what's the dogs name? - Er....Cassie..."

Got that off to a good start...

He's not meant to be a fierce dog, he doesnt even know how, he's a retriever, he just retrieves things

Having said that, he's so far retrieved quite a few things, not least a full size deer! None of my German Shepherds have ever managed that

Basically, he's a gun dog.
