Hi there posters

I recently got my new inet back up and running - and decided its time to return to my beloved camelot, but i'm having some hassles accomplishing this hehehe.

The problem is, ofc, lag :S... I get lots of delay (5sec + ) before actions occur, and as soon as i start fighting / see many foes, i go LD

I tried running ping's to the Prydwen server - and i get average response times (200-300ms) with no packet loss, so this problem leads me to believe it might be something technical

my box is set up like this:

p4 2.7, 512 ram, 256mb nvidia geforce.

I have all the latest video drivers, directx etc - so i dont think it would be that

The only thing i can think it would be is my router. Im no router guru at all, as this is the first one i'm using. Its a Marconi 4 Port ethernet POTS router, and is set up to be the DHCP controller. (my pc's network settings are to detect automatically).

I ran some pingplots, and get 300ms-ish using ICMP packet mode, and a loverly 70ms average using packets over tcp (http).

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

regards,

Sequana

is it fashionable nowadays orso to give as little needed information as possible?

if you press [shift]+[p] ingame, you receive a little screen with three ickle icons. which one is colored yellow/red? the left? middle? right?

you say you have a GeForce.. what GeForce? they're at 7 now... so if you've got the original GeForce.. no wonder it's crashing..

Also... you aswell have a very helpfull threadtitle... :twak:

you downloading while playing? :p who's your isp? whats your connection speed? if framerate is green then it's not a graphics card issue. 200ms is very high.

thanks for the reply..

firstly, not using the connection at all other than for daoc. My isp is SaDomain - in South Africa. my connection speed is 512kb/s adsl

200ms is quite high, but i had 400ms when i was living in Dubai, and 500ms when living in Mauritius, and there i had alot of packet loss too - and i could still play (albeit laggily).. now its ld every 5 mins :(

an update.... tried port forwarding for the 3 common daoc ports, but that doesnt seem to work (that being if i did it right hehehe)

the struggle continues

tried connecting straight to the internet rather than through your router? might determine whether it is your router thats the problem.
