A little advice when it comes to a new GFX card

Been thinking of getting a new GFX card after suffering from a bad mistake the last few months by buying a Hercules 4500 card

My requirements for the card is that it should be able to run most of the new games (UT:2003, Morrowind, DAoC:SI and games with that and better gfx) fairly good.. mostly a gamers card, but also fairly good when it comes to working with programs like Photoshop...

My comp atm is a 1.8GHz AMD with 1GB DDR RAM and running the OS Windows XP (sp1)

The little problem I have is that I don't have too much cash to buy so I've been looking around after some cheap but good cards..

this is what I've come up with sofar:

  • Sapphire Radeon 9100 Atlantis 128MB DDR
  • Sapphire Radeon 9500 Atlantis 64MB DDR
  • Gainward GeForce3 Ti/500TV 128MB 4ns DDR
  • Creative 3DBlaster GeForce4 Ti4200 64MB

all these cards here in norway lies around 1XXX kroner (100£ or something)

Wich one of these cards should I pick or do you have any better cards in that pricerange to recommend?

All help appreciated :)

I'd go with the Radeon 9500 and use the software hack to turn it into a 9500 Pro.

I've heard about that little software upgrade with the 9500 :)

but, it's ages ago since I was remotely near to be a techie and I've given up trying to get into that world again :)

got any links, howto's on that 9500 software upgrade?

It might be that prices will drop when the next gen geforce FX is released...ATI will probably soup up their top radeon in response and maybe drop prices of the others....dont ask me when...but it might be worth waiting ?

It really would be worth waiting just one month but if not then the 9500 would most probably be the best buy out of them cards, only just.

Not the Leadtek Winfast A250 ? Good bargain that one, actually they sell the A280 now, which is 8x AGP, around £115 +VAT.

I'd only recommend you get a 128MB card, whatever it is.
