id recommend gettin a real mobo, ie slot1 (ie abit bx6-rev2, £80ish). this u'll give u more clocking options and also upgradability. of course the celery would have to b slot1 as well then....

celery 400 is good choice porlly better value than faster ones as apparently is can handle 83mhz bus more easily (ie 498mhz), and is a fair bit cheaper

of course if ure not into overclocking then theres nowt wrong with the setup u described. it'd b a waste of a celery tho

Oh bugger, you'd be amazed at how easy it is to accidentally leave out the odd £100 quid here and there.... oh shite.

Ho hum, here is the whole deal in all it's miging.

Celly 400 - £90
Abit BM6 - 80 (ish)
64 meg - £67 (or 128 for £128)
Case about £60 ish (estimate)
TNT2 - £124
or Savage 4 - 70(max)

so that actually comes to:
£370 min
£470 max
No I can't be arsed to use a calculator and work it out properly.
erm, darn.

That's really annoyed me that has, sorry everyone for getting your hopes up on that, I just missed a zero or 2 off.
bugger

The TNT is a non UlTRA thing, which was listed at about £180!!

I ought tto start looking harder really.

Please quote the best prices you have seen for stuff (Ideally from my list) and tell us all (me) where to get them from.

This all cam from the latest SMC Direct catalogue.

Insight can give you much cheaper RAM, about £80 for 128MB, and I think their celly's are cheaper too. See Kryten's message above

You can also try Computer Exchange www.cex.co.uk no prices listed but they phone you back with a price, they can also part exchange your old stuff.

I've pre-ordered a Herc Dynamite TNT2 Ultra for £184.99 inc VAT & postage, from them, they expect it "this week", but they've been expecting it "this week" for the last two weeks

Ditto me and my Herc TNT2, although I ordered from Insight; there's a press release, though:

http://www.hercules.com/presale/release/TNT2_release060299.htm

quote:
Initial shipments begin the second week of June, with the 16MB retail model starting as low as $149.99.

...but their site also still says "Pre-order now!", so whether that's slipped too... :-(
