A Funny moment in DF

Hiya's

Thought I'd share this moment with you , I found it extremely funny and shocking at the same time . I was pulling Cambions in a group with my 41 Ranger , there was also another ranger in our group who conned orange to me . Anyway Cambions were coming in 2's , mezz one kill the other etc , but mezz was'nt working and each fight got to be very close , so close in fact that one of our number died in one encounter . Then the bard twigged and we heard this in chat , hey so and so (name withheld) stop breaking mezz ffs , so we were hey dont break mezz . Next pull , keeping an eye on this ranger now , he repeats the offense , we were killing one , he runs straight up to the mezzed and started beating on it ? wtf , stop breaking mezz ffs . After the fight asked him why he was breaking mezz every pull ? his reply was , and I quote " I thought it was ok to hit mezzed creatures has long as I did'nt use a taunt style " :) this from a high level ranger :)

Doubtful... Most would be furious if the one they're powerlevelling breaks the mezzes repeatedly - much more likely that it's some gimp who's bought an account.

Kinda sad to see newbies playing highlevels, instead of having them play the first 10-20 easy levels and learn the basics of the game first :(

Well well

Not so uncommon...

Had a discussion with a level 50 tank last time and asked him to stop hittign the mob cause I couldn't engage (needed to stall it realyl absolutely)

Then he keeps on hittind and when I ask him why he wouldn't let me do my engage job damnit!! he says "hum, what is engage?"

Less obvious than your exemple and I'm pretty sure he levelled his char himself, but well still...

i've had the same problem with Druids when i was a l33t druid on prywen:p

druid: the pet dont steal xp. ive read everywhere and it dont say that it steals.
me: only pets that dont steal xp is the theurgists.
druid: well i dont want to grp with you anymore. you just gets me killed(he said that after he went afk without notification AFTER we had pulled a purple:p)

Not true soz all pets steal exp even theurge :) though everyone is paranoid ffs a pet only steals upto 25% exp of total and only if pet did 100% of the damage. Used my spirit loads times to fight and let him just watch, result was tiny exp loss if he fought none if he just stood as backup.. Many times pets can be life savers in a grp if used by a smart player, sadly 90% of DaoC players are paranoid exp whores!!!

then how come i got the same xp when killing a yellow mob with my theurg and my armsman?(both was same lvl at that time and it was the same kind of mob)

problem with the teory of pets taking up to 25% is that hwen a theurg sends 10 pets into battle then they would steal 250% of the xp?

and we all know that theurg pets do all the dmg hehe.

urrr

pet only gets xp if it hits something

did some tests with some of my guild and it actually seems to raise XP a bit if u have a pet and leave it on passive when in a group

maybe not such a dumb sorc after all

come on... after 43 levels with a pet u know how much xp they suck if u use them.

Pets

Personnally I don't care abotu the X% xp loss a pet might cause.

When (and I say when) I have "hostility" towards pets, is when they're poorly used and break mezz etc...

Also heard that pet is taken in account in the BAF equation, then you might get more adds with pet than without (maybe not so visible for a full group but when you're just 2 players u might get 2s instead of 1s being pulled) but I can't tell I'm sure abotu this either.

nothing worse than a pet breaking mezz's

i personally leave my as a last resort and only call it if no tanks come to pull aggro off me.

Rest of the time it sits back from the back fo the group set on passive.

Not again!!

the percentage of exp a pet takes is based on the percentage of damage it does.

If the pet does 100% of the damage, it takes 25% of the exp (50% for charmed mobs as these can be the same lvl as the player).
If the pet does 0% of the damage it takes 0% of the exp.
i.e. the pet will take no exp from mobs it does not hit.

All pet classes should be permitted to keep their pet alive since when put on passive it has NO effect on exp, but can be called upon in an emergancy.

Also, pets can be used to hold a mob just like mez since, they will only do a small abount of damage befoore you're ready to kill the mob, the exp loss is minimal e.g. pet is set on the add, deals 10% damage to it, then group members take the add out, exp loss = 2.5% of the exp from that mob. What's 2.5% to anyone? The same is true when using a pet to deal extra damage to the main mob, they simply cannot deal enough damage is a short space of time to make a serious impact on the exp.

The exp loss only really kicks in if you're a pet class soloing and just let the pet kill everything, which is boring as hell anyway, so I only do it when I'm talking to people at the same time.

lol.
Yeah, i'm sure the 8% of an eight of the exp was really hurting your levelling speed

Summoned Pets leach XP, a cabalist Simulacrum is summoned and it leaches. But only 25% xp and that is if the pet does all the damage.

The Theurgist summoned pets leach 25% xp of the total xp gain, all the pets are counted as ONE pet = 25% leach. The calculation of how much a pet(pets) leach is not calculated of the number of pets, but the ammount of damage done to the mob by all the pets together.

All pets steal XP, but only if they do damage. And never more than 25% of the total xp when 100% damage is done by pet(s).
The reason all pets steal xp is because it's not the character itself that kills the mob. Doesn't matter if it's summoned or charmed.

so when does this xp get reduced from the xp u get? still havent been taken from my xp.

i still get same xp as armsmen soloing same type of mobs.

and dont bring me that but it may be lvl difrence on the mob.
nonononono at lvl 5 there is only 1 lvl/color

so a lvl 5 mob iiis yellow. and a lvl 4 is blue.
