Any recommendations? Must be at least 50gb fair usage and be decent hours for this.

Any suggestions, aside from "check adslguide" please post xD

Pipex
Ive been on their 2meg line for a while now and its superb.
They called me yesterday and said if i switch my telephone service over to them (which is also cheaper anyway) theyll upgrade my broadband from 2meg to 8 meg for free at the same monthly fee as it costs for 2 meg.

pipex were trying to screw me lol, originally signed up for a service couple years ago, since then that service is now obsolete and the current version of it is now alot cheaper yet they still wanted to charge me the old prices.

then they started billing me almost double and when I said wtf is this about they told me oh we are upgrading to 8meg so thats why it will cost more. I didnt have 8meg then, I dont have it now, my line can only take up to 6meg anyway and upgrading should be free unless I ask for something extra myself.

they then said I could upgrade for X amount of money, I said no thanks and I actually want to downgrade my service instead. In that case we will charge you 2 x X for downgrading. wtf?
balls.

Nildram are good, no traffic shaping, and 50gb Fair usage during Prime Times and as much as you want during off peak.

pipex are the worst isp customer service wise that ive had the displeasure to deal with in years.

Existing customers get 2mb (like me, for 34.99 - uncapped) New customer? 8mb for 23.99, with 50gb fair usage i think it is.

So ive been with pipex for 3 years, i pay more than new customers yet get treat like shit?

Shame i'm stuck with them until i find another service that is uncapped or as near as uncapped.

Plusnet might be worth a look depending on how bad traffic shaping is

I so hear you on pipex, stuck with them atm as I dont want to be tied to a contract because I'm hopfully moving soon but I'd dearly love to phone them and tell them where they could stick my line.

Shame really as the product is very good cant remember more than 2 downtimes in 3 years, the shaping and the lies that surrounded it and bad comunication is really what made me desperate to get away from them :<

More fool you then. Pipex may have bought Nildram out, however they have allowed nildram to continue operations as if they hadnt. Nildram maintained its old structure, its old employees, and its old goals.

Nildram is a primarily business focused broadband supplier (who thank god) do not touch the BT backbone with a barge pole. They keep ping times low, download speeds high, provide excellent custmer service, and having been with them for over 3 years i have not had a single issue with them.

Furthermore, here's a couple of tracert's of 2mbit ADSL for you to feist your eyes on. Im in doubt you'll find an overall better ADSL ISP in the UK.

I dont get you really, the lies and communication? Dude its not your girlfriend.
As you said youve had a great service with no downtimes, so why even need to communicate? Ive had nothing but a good experience with these both on telephone and with service.
Pick a service, pay for it each month, badabing youve got a superb provider with no downtimes.

communication about certain things especially when they concern a change to the conditions of the service IE traffic shaping - they sent out 1 email telling people they would not shape p2p traffic unless you were downloading disproportunate ammounts too what they expect and even then you would only be limited at peak times, lets see what we have now... a 20kbps limit on all p2p traffic 24/7 and network wide.

When this first happened people asked what was going on, they said it wasnt traffic shaping took them 3 weeks or more to admit that indeed it was.

so yeah I feel communication and trust is very important.

All Plusnet packages have bandwidth caps during peak hours, the £21.99 package has only 15GB from 4pm-midnight.

The entire history of Plusnet involves removing users, throttling, download limits, constantly changing terms and conditions. It looks as if they watch every single megabyte incase they can charge you for it. Some old articles:

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2001/02/01/plusnet_boots_1100_users/
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2001/02/13/plusnet_woes_continue_more/
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/04/25/plusnet_fup/
http://forms.theregister.co.uk/search/?q=plusnet

It seems as if they don't mind taking your money, but will complain the moment you want to download anything big.
