I know some people who are loaded and buy furniture at Ikea, they just like the whole clean and minimalist style of things I guess. Personally I would be buying antique furniture like Chippendale, I love really well made wooden furniture but as I don't have too much dosh I make do with some Ikea gear which is cheap and cheerful.

Make a show of it - offer to help her, do a bit of helping (the hard stuff where you do need two people to do it) then instead of saying "I'm bored of this, I'm off to the pub" say "I'm bored of this, let's go for a meal together / the cinema / a drink together" that way you both put some work in and have a reward afterwards.
