there was a poll about it a while back. i think the outcome was that only RR5+ should get grats but i doubt anything was implemented tbh. Personally i hate them and they just knock interesting threads off the front page quicker but the poll showed enough people wanted to keep them so just got to leave em, wouldn't be fair to the majority otherwise.

I'm am (was) almost rr8 and imo levelling to 50 for the first time is MUCH harder because its much more boring then RvRing (and boredom is prevents me from playing now), you will get 50 eventually as you will become RR10 eventually, its like in these first person shooters:

-getting a total of 100 kills in a deathmatch with no time or killlimit is no feat of skill, its just a matter of time, same with rps in daoc, there is no fraglimit or timelimit and the game will never end...

-being the winner after playing deathmatch with a fixed amount of players in a fixed amount of time is a feat of skill, since you only have a limited amount of time to show what your made of, and the score will be deleted afterwards...

One important factor in daoc is that you dont see in many other games is that the more you kill, the more powerful your characther will become and the faster RPS will start rolling in (easier to find groups, easier to kill enemies), this is a double reward that COULD be considered as a flaw in the game since the reward of playing alot is usually that you become more skilled and gets you in higher 'leagues' , however, in this game, it results in people who have to much time to become even more powerful then those who cant play that much, creating a huge gap in terms of 'power'. I have seen it myself, at rr1 i lost to a sb with my minstrel!!!11111 but at rr7 i could kill 3 at a time without breaking a sweat and had low rr zerkers in ratmode running away from me because i outdamaged them greatly, not because i was so 'good' or anything, only because i had too much spare time and made my characther so powerful...

thats why imo only rr11 is something special (its about as hard as getting all tradeskills max and getting 8 level 50s), since it means that you had the patience to play one class in one game so fucking long

but i dont really mind them (the gratsthreads) i just find them very silly when i think about it, a bit embarassing even (good thing i didnt have one, cuz what it technically means its "GRATZ MORCH YOU HAVE TOO MUCH SPARE TIME")...

I think this whole discussion is completely whack, we all have our own motivation and the reason to play differs greatly from player to player. Doesnt take a "deep thinker" to figure that out. Personally i'm happy when a friend dings rr8 if he thinks its an achievement. Why cant people be happy for others sake instead of whining over something someone else is happy about? I consider it selfish and egocentric to soil things down with pathetic whine like so many do atm.

Morch, it also seems to me as if you enjoy degrading people and their achievents while you in the next sentence suddenly bring in your own ability to play well, dont you find that abit weird?

And no I dont read em wtf should I ??? to me its just waste of space , something peopel post to be sure someone post a grz thread about them and so forth.....

Yes i am wasting alot of time posting here but 90% of the time i only do that at my so called 'work', since its for school and cuz those fucking ***** dont pay me anything i aint exactly that 'motivated' you know (since all other classmates are getting paid but theres not a damn thing i can do about me not getting paid), but if they want cheap workers they can get cheap results...

but anyway... I didnt degrade anyone, what i said was my opinion, i thought it might be appropriate in this what you call 'whine thread', i dont mind other people being 'happy' about it, and i didnt bring my own personal ability in to play well, is was referring my characther thats good cuz every moron with basic knowledge can play it like that when soloing (bit like the bonedancers but you have to smash charm instead of lifetap when soloing)...

I only gave my opinion about those 'achievements' just like everyone else is doing here (most in the form of 'QQ m8'), and since i got myself pretty high RR aswell and i played a shitload of mmorpgs and other games i know what im talking about, and if you dont share my opinion thats cool, cuz im not expecting anyone to think the same as i do...

and besides no game is a waste of time if you enjoy it, i dont know where i said anything about daoc being a waste of time, although daoc is obviously lacking at some fields it was very entertaining while i played it and im sure it still is for loads of people, its all a matter of taste and i dont find it to MY likings anymore...

like i said, i was only being honest and gave MY opinion...
