6th Formers

are the laziest scum on the planet :)

Supervising a group of them at the work I've just started. As soon as two of them get together they stop working. I've determined the amount of work they do is proportional to the distance^2 they are away from each other.

The best way to get them working is Money, If they dont work cut their pay, install some CCTV cameras a proof.
Im about their age and i know that the only reason i would work at the moment is for the money, be it for beer, fags, of going out.

Just finished my A-Levels, so I was the 6th form age.

Yes, we're lazy.

But then, it's expected of us. ;)

I'm just starting my second year at uni and I'm getting lazier.

Working less is a damn fine skill to learn.

With over 20 years of work behind me I can cynically say that I've yet to meet a company who will pay you more for working harder, therefore the common solution is to do less work for the same money.

Companies might let you keep your job if you work hard, thats about all you should expect.

6th formers might be the laziest scum, but people who supervise and pay them are the stingiest, I doubt you'd consider giving them a better wage if they pulled their socks up and excelled themselves.

Half of my predicted salary is commission, so the more I work the more I earn. The more I earn, the higher my commision rate becomes (retrospectively) so if I work like a bastard I can (theoretically) earns loads.
So far this year the theory is working. Some of our guys are struggling though, and they work hard.

I've just finished my A-levels.

And I'm supremely lazy.

So far the theory is holding up.

(Although I've just got a summer job, so that poses a small obstacle to my laziness)

I was always lazy back at 6th Form. That was a long time ago though, oh how the time flies when you're having fun. :)

(I always presumed FatBusinessman was older)

The trick is what I call "focussed laziness" which is a delicate technique to master, the essence of which is getting the work that needs to be done in order for you to keep your job done, and done well, meanwhile filling the remaining time (usually about 80% of the working week) with lazing about in such a fashion that it appears that you are working hard.

One of these days I'll find a job that actually manages to fill the working week with useful stuff :/

Got a great catch-22 situation in my job now - I've been set an annual budget of £10,000 for the lab work I do. Now if I work flat out in the lab I'll spend that £10k in about 2 months. So I'm actually *forced* to laze about a lot of the time...

Amen to that. I wasn't planning on getting a summer job until someone told me I could earn about £1500-£2000 over the summer. I now have a job.

Humans are fucking stupid.

We're the only kind of species that exists on this planet that (on the whole) has to work for other people in order to live, and divulge in shit we don't need but think we do.

I was waiting in line at the tube station, and the bloke in front of me was reading a book.

It was called 'How to work less and earn more money'.

personally, the age group I really hate to work with are 14-16. They just don't know what it means to work.
The older know but don't care, so its easier to sack them :)

Personally, I think working for other people and knowing that other people will supply my food for me is better than everyone going out to find bananas all day.

For some reason, which I have yet to discover, here at the Continental Oil Company they promote the shite out of the way. So, for instance, if your an excellent Mechanical Technician, you will always be a mech tech. The bloke on the other shift who does fuck all, and when he does do something invariably either breaks it or leaves it in a serious state of dissrepair, gets promoted, gains a grade increase and has even less responsibility.

But Im not bitter, noooooo, Im not bitter. :(

Standard practice, remember managers, even the good ones, are lazy bastards too, so they prefer to shift dead wood around rather than sack it, and they shift them to positions where they can do minimal damage, preferably in someone else's department.

I'm a "techie" in my company, in the IT department, whenever the subject of promotion came up I was told I would need to go into management, yet most of those non-techies who did get promoted had a manager grade but never actually managed anyone, it was quite an experience working in a department with more managers than staff, you kind of got shared around to make them feel they contributed in some way.

I got tired of watching obviously incompetant managers have a very high staff turnover in their team and no-one does anything about it, even though these people are costing the company a small fortune in agency fees for new staff.

I read Dilbert, it wouldn't be so funny if it was so real.

I'd like to know what the alternative is Wazzer ? gone are the hunter gatherer days. So working for money to support your family and self is what has replaced them.

If all I did was stand around and watch them I wouldn't mind as much ;) But I do the same work, and even tend to do the harder/shittier jobs so they don't feel that they're doing all the bad work.

As for money, they're getting £5/hour which at 16/17 (and up North) is a f.fortune ;)
