56k any chance?

Hi guys I thought I'd try this free trial as I'm a keen multi-player, but its seems that every time I get in to a game I just get kicked straight out again because I'm on 56k, the problem is that I live in a very remote part of the uk and we dont get broadband yet
its not just down to game.net it happens every where any ideas?.

Check your connection speed in multiplayer options, it can be a bitch to make it stay where you set it, but that's the first thing to check.

how about satellite connection? .. more money but wont have to wait 15 years for BT to pull a rj-45 cable out of their a$$

Ahha here's where we can have the fat pipe, but low speeds discussion.

You can move a great deal of data with satellite, but it takes a long time to get from your computer to the satellite, and back down into the the normal network, so it sucks for ping dependant gaming.

RapidSat one of the new ones is also only downloads, so you would still use your 56k for uploads. BT satellite does uploads too, but have you seen the prices? I also understand they are limiting bandwidth now as they have run out of capacity.

ISDN isn't bad and is not too pricey, plus you get an extra 2 phone lines so you can recieve calls whilst you are online. I'm pinging good BF1942 servers as low as 35 now, and it's really stable. I just can't play on over 32 man ones very well, as whilst the information is getting to me quickly, i can't recieve enough of it, (fast, but thin pipe analogy).

Ooooh one more thing with satellite, it doesn't work when it's too cloudy.....

Lieing again eh, you can't play well no matter how many players

I could never play BF1942 with a 56k connection....I would rather kill myself, esp since with my current connection I can manage a 10ms ping
