512k = 600k for NTL now

Well, the topic says it all. I did notice an increase in dl speeds, but didn't think too much about it.

http://www.ntlworld.com/data-feeds/editorial/microsites/600k/

Anyway, as of today at 1600, I can't play cs, because everything is pinging really high. Servers are really laggy. I'm wondering if something is wrong with my computer, or there is a fault with the NTL service? Anybody in Manchester with similar problems?

19 September 2002 16:17 ntlHome Internet Service - All packages
ntlHome customers on the Dialup and Broadband Internet services may currently experience intermittent access to web browsing, email and the newsgroup services.

This is due to a technical fault.

It's been 600k for ages, they capped it wrong.

It wasn't a capping mistake it is meant to be 600k now, the 128k NTL is the one which is 256k by mistake, it does say on their home page that 512k is now 600k, don't say 128 is 256 though;)
A member of my clan is on NTL Manchester Tom and he moans about it a lot.

Well it only lasted a few hours, and they did mention it on their server status page. It's fixed now, and thats the first time in nearly a year of service that I've experienced any problems.

Keep up the good work NTL!

I live in Flixton, which is to the west of Manchester (about a mile outside Urmston). It's a nice place, kind of overspill for Altrincham. Good houses, lots of big tree lined roads, nice people, plenty of local shops etc.

I love the place - and the train station is just over the road, which is great for going into Manchester. It's cheaper to use the train then it is to park my car!

ahhh Sale, nice place, about 3-4 miles from my house. The Bridgewater canal is excellent around there. Have you been to 'The King's Ransom', a canalside pub that looks about 100 years old but is actually only 5?

You can sit out almost on the towpath. Its on Brittania street I think.

Sorry for tugging this old boy up but I work on Britannia Road ;)

There's an office opposite the Ransom, currently covered in scaffolding, which is where I work, I overlook that pub 5 days a week

Pub wise, the Little B extends to a greater degree of ownership than the Ransom IMHO :D

I know exactly the office of which you speak, because I cycle past it along the towpath often. If you see a ginger-headed freak on a red mountain bike with white forks, its me!

We have a watch tower on the right hand side now with two flag poles, one flying the Union Jack and one flying the Stars & Stripes, which I don't get, but that'll be where I'll set my rifle up.

Ginger hair, red bike, white forks, gotcha'.

On a largly unrelated note, if you fancy a V-Reg Saxo VTR for 4.5K, check it out next time you pass the Ransom car park :D

While they're doing that, why don't they clean up some of the warehouses on the opposite side of the towpath? Some of them would make fantastic apartments, the loading bays are still there.

Bring on Tom Bloxham
