Right coming up on christmas ill be gettin about 500 quid to spend, normally i am VERY bad with money and generally spend it on crap ill never use.

I need PC upgrades atm,

Can anyone help with a round up of some nice goods to spend my wad of cash on?

I'll need these components:

HDD
GFX card
Monitor
Sounds card

GFX card if anything must be a decent radeon, the monitor can be anything better than a 19" CRT - Sound card and HDD up to you.

Most of the sites ive found have outrageous prices.

Help appreciated..

Are HDD, monitor and sound card definately at the top of the list? What's your motherboard, cpu, psu and ram like atm? There's some nice resource hungry games on the way ...

it's hard to do what you ask, in 3 months time when Christmas arrives there will be a lot of new hardware in shops and todays latest all singing HW will be cheaper.

Im unsure about by mobo, but i know it supports full speed DDR ram currently at 256MB, my currect GFX card is a rather weak GF4 MX 440 but my processor is a nice 2100+ athlon.

At the top of the list is the GFX card.

The PC was a budget base unit since my other one had just blown up so.

If it were me (actually it is about time I upgraded), I'd spend my money on the latest mobo, cpu and a gig of the latest ram, plus graphics. £500 might be a squeeze, but you don't have to go for the fatest cpu or graphics available at the time. Personally I'm running 2100xp on an Asus KG7, 512mb pc2100 ram and a gf4 4800 ........ but it aint gonna run hl2 or doom3 in 'full technicolor', so I'll be upgrading. As long as you arent near capacity on your hdd and your monitor is still working, I'd spend it on other things.
