My best store closes tomorrow (Saturday 27th). My local store closes on January 5th. I'll have to pop in first thing in the morning to see what I can grab before they go forever.

It will naturally depend on which store you go into.

The best store locally closed today and they had half of the lower floor with stock left.
Games? None.
DVDs? None.
CDs? A dozen £3 ones.

It was kind of strange to see the store almost empty when I saw it full of stock a couple of weeks ago.

Yes, the sticker says £16, but you minus 70% off that, so its like £4 after that?

I tried buying Red Alert 3 PC and they claimed they had no stock despite there being boxes on the shelves.

It was the same for anyone else trying to buy any games - I honestly reckon the staff had nicked them all to flog privately to mates :/

cases do not = stock levels. They are display cases. But yes staff probably did hoarde stock for themselves, and quite rightly too.

They weren't display boxes - they used the actual game case as the "display" box. Same for all their games of all formats. They kept the games & manuals in big drawer units behind the tills.

Wasn't just me - 3/4 other people ahead of me got the same reply. 20 or so 360 cases for Fallout 3 and none in stock? Ok...

I'm with Ch3t, they were losing their jobs - fair enough they should try and get some decent severance.

Turns out I can get RA3 for £15 off Sendit.com in their sale anyway, which is exactly what I'll do.

And most of our Zavvi stores have closed down (2 of the 3 in and round Belfast), and the one most local to me is one of the two shut down. So Game in Newtownabbey have very little direct competition on Console games*, and they know it. They've stuck most of their prices up to near retail price (£40, not £50, no-one sells em at £50 ffs).

*PC game retail sales are a joke locally, and it appears I may well have to purchase any and all future PC games online or digitally download them via Steam or some such.

Which is a fucking monster pisser.
