40 to 50 - What is reasonable to expect?

As posts regarding peeps hitting 50 is spawning all over these boards I began to realize I should focus a bit more...

With Crohamond I recently hit 40 and besides a little RvR and the level 40 epic I havn't played with that old thane since. I was wondering how much time I need to put into this last race to 50. Groups in Spindelhalla and Malmo is probably the way to go so how long should it take(approximetly)?

/em begins planning some mad leveling this weekend.

From 40 to 45 in Malmo things will go quick in a good group pulling Prots and so on...quicker if you pull Execs....

I think (tho someone will prolly prove me wrong) that from 45 onwards you will get about a bubble an hour averaged across the levels so 5 levels x 10 bubbles = 50 hours from 45 to 50.

Bear in mind the time you will have to wait for a group in Malmohus and the downtime for Madame Dragons daily flypast if you are at the lair...plus downtime for whining/whinging/resetting groups/LDs/AFKs and so on.

P.S. Im not the best person to talk about Malmo tho, I hate the place and have been there 3 times in total. So perhaps Im way off with my estimate here.

Good luck anyway :)

Well I am no Malmo veteran but I have been there with Eni (lvls 42-50) and now Numia (42-48...).

Firstly I believe, as I mentioned on other thread, its better to be the "King of Spind" then the "Peasant of Malmo". This means I prefer to spend levels 40-42 in Spindelhalla then trying to get into Malm grps at this low level already. This because although you will be getting good xp, you will most probably contribute to poor xp in your grp making whole team unhappy. Knowing this getting into a Malm ram will be even more difficult...

Secondly the definitive levelling speed depends on grps and waiting. If you get a good grp and do not need to wait too long to get into grps then for lvls 42-50 Malmo is the place. Levelling speed according to my experience: 42-45 (1,2-1,0 blb a hour overall), 46-48 (0,8-1,0), 48-50 (0,5-0,8)...

But its not only levelling why you go there. Its a place to meet a lot of new ppl in your levels on this realm so take your time, be friendly and do not start measuring xp efficiency if not it will be painful 3 weeks....

when notice one guild memeber was one week 40 and i 45, suddenly he was 48, and i was still stuck to 45, made my mind and started camping malmo.

forget malmo get more people in DF, then we can do more princess runs.

I've made my last 4 lvls in df in good grps that don't have the malmo bitching factor. i'm lvl45 now and numbers of people are dropping in df so people come on down :)

p.s. don't forget df is close to realm portal for quick attacks and close for defence of keeps/ relics no long ride from malmo or any of the sorry i can't help defend the relics i'm stuck in malmo and i can't get back in, crap.

hope i made my point :D come to df.

Fastest i ever heard was 8 days in malmo for 40-50. But thats if ur gonna spend all day every day there and kiss your brain goodbye. Dook managed about 2 weeks i think... thats pretty good since he kept his brain functioning and even went outside.

I dont know how you really cant stand playing from 40 up to 50.. If it takes about one hour to get to 0.5-1.0 bubble it must be really boring.. I really love this game. But I cant stand thinking of getting to 50... Its way out of my leauge..=)

well after readimg this it seem that the malmo groupps (although they are quik) arn't much fun. which tbh is why i play. to have a laugh (usually at someone else) and to meet peeps. some where up around 46-47 is Gerta Ugbash (awarded cutes troll of the year) and Tharkun Dwarfdeep similar lvl (healer extrodinair) Gerta goes to malmo and Tharkun rampages round Spind. hey stay at a similar lvl (because of the waiting in Malmo) as i watch them both lvl i see that there isn't much in it so far fast but low Xp in Spind or High Xp in malmo with un-mentionable wait's

maybe this will changeover the next 3 lvl's who knows, being a Sb i've been told i'll have no problems with either but i still havn't decided. if you've got all day to spend in Either of these places then 40 - 50 should (from my experince of watching others) take around 2-3 weeks with a good run of luck.

If raum is so empty why arnt there peeps in there scouting for good spots? just a thought

:D

malmo can be fun... and I met a great many people there...... play in the same group for 9 hours (49.68-50), you do tend to have a laugh now with people who you get to know quite well.

I'd reccomend doing Yar group for your lover 40', 40-44, since hitting the high lvl mobs at lair can be a bitch at those levels.... after those, it's lair all the way

Seeing as world + dog is playing sb', hunters or caster classes, getting a group as a tank is not really that hard.

I remember one time... was lvl 47... just logged on at about 7PM on a thursday... put myself on yar list... number 27... put myself on lair list... number 22

fo play an alt..... 30 mins later.... "Your up at lair"

I was like WOW..... , I was the highest lvl tank on list, and they needed a peeler.... I wasn't complaining ;)

So as a tank, you have a small chance of jumping the list.... healers/shammies have an even bigger chance, since you can't pull without them... pbt runies are also needed in G1, so they can occasionally skip the list now and then

Feel sorry for all other classes..... but hey, thats life

If you want to hunt Raum and not been there, here's Roo's Rough Guide to Raumarik...

From memory when I've hunted Raum, so hope I've got most of it right. In no particular order:

In Raum you mostly have to move around - few good camp spots where you can sit all night and pull. The most fun mobs move around a lot so you have to be on the ball.

Ice Striders: con yellow and blue at 50, some orange. Good for groups of any level, come in twos (or at least solo they do). (My personal favourite mob in game closely followed by hagbui) Frostweavers have ranged attack, chillers are their tanks. Have root spell so be careful.

Frost Bound Bears: high 30s/ low 40s full group. Small groups at mid 40s. Slow moving tank mobs.

Sleepneirsson: con orange to red at 50. Good for mid to high 40s, depending on group size. Need a couple of good tanks with lots of hp for these since they resist spells a lot. No baf or group bonus on these. Group of 4 can do these if high enough level for steady xp. These are the steadiest safest least effort xp in Raum imo if you want safe rather than fast.

Fenrir - BAF guaranteed. Con orange at 50. 2 or 3 at a time on pulls.

Greater Fenrir - high 40s, sometimes can be done with 2 groups if you don't have high level peeps. Mezzing and rooting the order of the day, similar to Malmo but not as fast.

Broadleafs - Mid 40s. They debuff and move VERY fast. Sometimes baf and on the occasional pull you get 3 together. Pullers die a lot at these if they're not paying attention.

Chillsome Wights: con orange at 50, so best for low/mid 40s groups. Often baf with 1 or 2 extra mobs.

Frore Liches : mostly con red at 50, often baf, sometimes with chillsome wights. Have ranged attack so mez, don't root.

Raumarik Revenant. Type /release

Wretch Of Winter/Wrath Of Winter, etc: see Raumarik Revenant

Savage Winter Wolves: con orange at 50, baf with 1 or 2 sometimes.

Robiin: single Firbolg near entrance - cons red or orange at 50. Hits VERY hard. We do him just on general principle when we go to Raum :)

Wyverns (at entrance) - con yellow and blue at 50. For full group you get 3 at a time. Nasty nuke. Don't root unless you root very far away (pull with root at max range, mez adds). If you're doing these be careful of the epic quest NPCs sitting in the middle so don't get too close since you will get a red con (at 50) and 3 or 4 of his buddies (blue con at 50) at the same time as your main pull. Good fun though if you can handle it.

Bounty Hunters: range from blue to red at 50, come in 2s and 3s. Have ranged attacks (bows). Nasty because they wander around a lot and can walk into the middle of your group when you are pulling other mobs.

Cyclops: nasty. Red and purple at 50, good for 2 groups or more. Good drops from these too. Named mob there (Hugi I think) who is generous with items. Make sure to pull his guards first. These are the big boys of Raum (not counting epic mobs).

Don't forget DF, I managed a little under a bubble an hour there at 49 doing knights and umbral hulks. DF tends to be better exp and more fun than Malmohus anyway, IMO, even if you just stick to the chtonian crawlers and succubi. However, you need a GOOD group (especially for the Hulks and Knights, they are a bit rough), meaning a high level healer for CC, a PBT runemaster, preferably a high level tank etc. Of course, good groups like that are rare...

Yeah...I've been trying DF but at 40 it seems to be hard to find appropriate mobs there...most that gives sapphires seals are orange and red and the lower ones are mostly blue as far as I can see.

I got from 41-50 in Malmo in about 2 weeks of almost nonstop playing. ( Thanks Sharp :))

I tried to take atleast 2 hours a day to go out and take care of my GF (little one on the way) but I still felt like I was going nuts. I snapped at alot of people but also made an awful lot of friends.

My advice to you would be to not do the whole thing in Malmo. Exp in places such as Spind (smaller groups), Raum and DF up until lvl 47 or so. The last few lvls are a breeze in Malmo but in the lower 40s you often wonder why you're there. As you get closer to 50 you start to appreciate Malmo (well..I did) and find it easier to stick it out.

Also, STAY AWAY FROM GROUPS THAT MAKE RUNIES ROOT!!!11.

Good luck on your travels :)

That Raumarik Revenant, I watched the hill it was on when I was hunting with my guild.. it had like 1000s of wights swarming around the top..

What's so special about that guy? Does he drop anything in particular? is he harder than the dragon?!

<looks confused>

2 bubbles to 50, two lvl 40 Seers in G1, roots and mezzes weren't sticking.

"Dook, you root"
"But I'm 2 bubs to 50, I wanna ding today"
"I've seen lvl 45 Runies root so you must be able to"
"Bah, okay I'll give it a go"

Naah he's not like the Dragon he's more like the Wrecht of Winter could be taken by 2 high lvl groups you just have to chain pull the guys around him first. And he could drop some nice stuff

"Seeing as world + dog is playing sb', hunters or caster classes, getting a group as a tank is not really that hard."

yahahah spot the eejits amongst this lot :D

Anyway, back on the topic, i found malm to vary a lot, from well organised grps, with little or no bickering, to complete nobs who bitched non-stop. But that might just be my conception... :(

One of the biggest problems i had with malm is that there would be two grps at lair/yar (ie the normal 16 ppl at one place), with a list of 20+ ppl and on occasion no-one would "risk" joining a 2nd grp to go into the remaining xp spot, preferring to wait on the list instead for hours. That REALLY pissed me off. Altho big up to ppl who would risk it and have many hours of happy XPing!

Also, despite dooks reluctance, its more than possible to have a high lvl runey/sm be the primary CC, did it on many occasions when the highest seer in g1 was maybe 43....

just my 2p worth of lvling a gimp in malm

edit: would also like to thank the occasional lvl 50 healers that would give up their time to help CC for us, Ozird etc, much appreciated and im sure the money came in handy for crafting!

I lost about 4 bubbles on my 49-50 due to a combination of unlucky resists and lucky double hits. :'(
