anyone got an opinion on the 3D Blaster TNT2 Vanta?

Good bad, indifferent... better than a V3?

I just got it for £80 and want to know if i've wasted my ,oney before it arrives so i can cry myself to sleep until i can get enough money for a GeForce....

it's an tnt2 without the 'oomph - a voodoo 3 2000 benches higher, all you have over the voodoo 3 is 32 bit colours....

sorry

U wasted your money - no doubt.

It's slow. Nowhere near fast enough to take advantage of its 32 bit colour support in game.

A v3 2k annihilates it.

TNT2 ultra is the only way to go in the land of the tnt2 based cards (in whatever form...)

I got a geforce DDR anyway, so PH3333R M33!

I know that the TNT2 M<something>'s are dodgy but not sure about the Vanta.

Anything TNT2 that doesn't end in ULTRA aint worth touching. Had my ASUS 3800 Deluxe since it was first available. Wont bother with Geforce, wasn't impressed enough to spend the dosh.

I'd have a geforce over a TNT2 anyday... I had a UTNT2 for a week and sold it cuz it wasn't quite an upgrade from me V3 (which was faster in all tests on my system)

Had a geforce and q3 scores nearly doubled and q2 scores rocketed too...

140fps @ 1024*768 in q2 (16 bit with everything on) for demo1 and demo2 and crusher gets about 75 - tis fast for a measly celeron system.

Q3 scores @ 1024*768 with everyhting up full - demo001 = 57 and demo002 is the same.

That would nail a TNT2 easy

Hey TUG, I never said the TNT was better, I just said that I didn't think the Gefarce was a worthwhile upgrade. Not enough of an improvement to justify the dosh. At the end of the day, once the fps gets over 30 you can't see the difference anyway. And that's a medical fact.

Tis a fact I dont agree with tho...

I *can* tell the diff between 30 and 60fps for deffo, and even 60 and 80!

Most ppl agree with me.

Tis ok tho, don't wanna start an argument or nowt

you people who say you cat see any difference from 30 to anything above are so stupid

prolly caus you comp cant run faster than 30 fps, but im afraid that you can defo see a differnce from 30 to say 60

@30, movement is blurry, @ 60 it seems natural, and at say 120 if ya monitor refresh can go that high, as well as your 3d card, then it looks surreal, have a look for yourself on a decent fast sys that u can limit to 30 and 60 fps.

IMHO, frankie is right.

I used to play 30fps @ 800*600 on a celeron 300a@464 and i740 vid card... chucked a V3 in and i was bangin away @ 90fps at that res, and believe me - you DO notice it!!!

Now, after a few more upgrades (celeron 366@605 and DDR geforce) it twats out about 150fps - I can still tell a little bit of diff over 80fps from the olden days.

Might be peoples personal eyesight, might also be fact...
