Just saw this setting on the elite, but it works for anyone using a VGA connection as well. It is under display settings. It lets you adjust the black reference levels to match your display. So for anyone using the VGA cable whose colours look washed out, fiddle with this setting, it can make a huge difference.

I was wondering about this the day before yesterday :x

Bit miffed on the output resolution of some games mind.. monitor's native is 1280x1024, but some games only output VGA on a widescreen format, whilst others do 4:3.. so set to native, I get black bars at the top and bottom on some games :(

I've tried setting it to 1280x720.. fills the screen but things get stretched..

At 640x480 it fills the screen but obviously looks a lot worse.. (800x600 also no good :S)

Ah well lol :)

Something wrong with 1360x768? Its not like you will miss those missing 6 lines :p

Not having 1:1 pixel mapping really hurts the quality, my screen looks killer when I run a 1366 signal to it but the 1360 signal looks slightly off and grainer because the TV's scaler has had to stretch it. It is the same with PC LCD's, if you don't run at the native resolution they never look as good as they should but once you go to native res the image is crystal clear.

You can use hdmi-dvi and the 360 will auto detect the native res of your screen and run at that setting. No idea if that gives more res choices than the vga cable or not, but the review I read seemed to think so.

Model of the TV? I've never heard about one that would stretch 1360x768 - usually (99.99% of time) it will be 1:1 pixel mapping with 6 empty lines. Its rare that 1366x768 1:1 even works (with PC that is) so you must have bought some weirdo chinese TV?

Is all this HDMI shiz Elite-only or can I just pick up a new cable for my premium? :S

Elite and new Core/Premium consoles (not sure have those hit EU stores yet) comes with HDMI-slot and no, you can't use HDMI with your current Premium (it has no HDMI-slot).

I just caved in and traded my premium in for an Elite+ any free game at Blockbusters they gave me £160 instead of £150 GAME give you.

Also got a voucher so i can rent 5 360 games for free. I also preordered Halo 3,Medal of Honour/Two Worlds/Stranglehold and each game i preordered i got a free rental which i think is great.

Have to say it looks gorgeous and runs much much quieter then the premium did and i also noticed i have the new dvd drive and it just looks better in my all black set up now :D

If you can swap two worlds for something, do so. It will take a few years of modding to get this game going :(
