Does anyone know what it is and is not capable of? Online retailsers do not seem to carry much detail about it.

I think it plays HD-DVDS.

along with normal DVDs, and is also much quieter than the 360 DVD-ROM.

Exactly my point when it comes to anything Bluray-HD.

I also like the way Sky want you to pay £300 for 8 channels

Sky are ripping the piss, they invested £20 million in new equipment for HD recording of football and another £50 million or so on HD broadcast gear and then they have the cheek to charge an extra £10 a week for HD on an already overpriced service.
