2Q about Weapon skill

a)

I have heard that a natural 50 in a weapon skill (e.g. Blades) is better than something like e.g. 40+10.

Assuming I dont care about the styles that would be open by having a larger natural weapon skill, is there any difference between 50+0 and 40+10...?

b)

Is there any benefit in having over 50 in a weapon spec when rvring?

Cheers :)

a) Not true as far as I can tell.
b) Yes, but the effect will be less per point the higher you go.

39 + 11 skill will give you weaponskill of 50 for to-hit/damage calculation, but not the 44 & 50 styles.

50 will give you weaponskill of 50, plus the styles

50 + 11 with give you weaponskill higher than 50, but each point above 50 is worth less and less (diminishing returns). I've heard that goin more than about 5 over 50 is a waste.

I was 99% sure I knew ;)

...but the odd person says that a natural 50 is better damage (not due to styles), ill know to ridicule them loudly!

Ill have to experiment with the damage cap over 50 skill.. for a mage theres no point going over 50 as its all level vs level and theres no benefit to having a larger skill total than your opponents level, but I guess melee is a different story...
