Have you watched 28 days later?, the reason I ask is the 2 people this week have mentioned this film to me and neither relaised it was a sequal.

That sentence made me cringe, in my opinion 28 days later was far greater.

28weeks did have lot of stuff that bugged me more:

  • volvo's dodging apache bullets, apache not launching rocket into the tunnel after them.

  • pizza place 2 streets from safe zone wasnt cleaned out yet all the roads around it were shown to have been cleaned out.

  • pizza not rotted, yet all skin gone from the body inside

  • locking all them people in a room with no camera no lights and not checking the linking pasages.

  • not having cameras on the contamination room

  • rage group navigating the entire length of london to find them in that field.

  • main rage (Robert Carlysle) always managing to track down his family in the buildings

  • sniper hitting a mirror with 1 tracer and 1 targeted shot. but missing a
12yr old boy with over 30 rounds

  • Doctor woman looking at the rage person in the underground through the night scope and not attacking it (yeah, lets just watch it for 20 seconds and hope it doesnt attack whilst the point of my gun is in its face).

  • girl that was 2 feet away not getting attacked and boy somehow ended up 2 rooms away when they fell down the stiars.

  • boy refusing to answer they they call his name, girl doing the same in their house earlier on

  • the super close shots with the shaky cam. Yeah its good once or twice, but not 50 fucking times!

  • The bit which was like something out of One Hour Photo where the mum is standing in his dream, then pulls at her face etc

  • the fact you were introduced to a new set of characters every 5 minutes, only to see them die

TBH i was slightly disappointed also. I love the direction they are taking the storyline but hate the way it's been done.. But hell they show how piss poor the americans really are so can't complain.

Different director for 28 weeks later, 28 months has the original one back iirc.

I really liked it, yeah some of the stuff was a bit unrealistic but it`s entertainment you have to change certain things to make it work on film. I thought it was as good as 28 days later with some awsome cut scenes and a really frantic pace.

it was an entertaining film, but seemed to have so much pulled from all over the place (definite tones of resident evil and children of men in there) and they could have done so much more with some of the techniques used

like the night-vision sniper scope was a bit cack but could have been so brilliant!

Also Robert Carlysle had a sort of intelligence to him. Much like Dawn/Day/Night of the dead where the zombe seems to command all the others

thats the thing though they aren't zombies, they are just infected people... Theres no reason why they can't lust after / obsess over what they did when they were "alive".. Plus the fact that the mother was a carrier not an inffected person leaves it open for a cure being found in the Son (which i imagine may happen in 28 months later

I'd definately go and watch it (cinema or *cough* other sources *cough*) as the film itself is alright, it's just not as true to the original directors vision.

(due to the massive budget they got given.. rather than filming it on digi cameras like the original.)

Personally I thought this was done really well - different to the original, more chase/thriller style than the original, which focused more on how humans destroy eachother in such situations.

Still very good though, and I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the first one, and isn't anal.
