Hihi peeps!

We are 2 semi-geeks which have decided to start on DAoC, after to many other failure mmorpg's...

Hibernia/Excalibur is our destination, any advice on builds, we will both have a buffbot, and would like to combine our strengths to the max.

So far our thoughts are:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Him: Nightshade, nothing else... he got a thing with backstabbing.. dont ask me why.

His BuffBot: Undecided (50 Nurture? or Bard? Or....?)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Me: Undecided - Nature Druid? Some Caster? Ranger? I really dont know :/

My BuffBot: Either 50 Nurture(if his BuffBot is not a 50 Nurture Druid, cause i think we need last Haste for his NS?) or i think it was 44Nurture/31 Regrowth i saw someplace for better allround BB.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About the buffbot, im sorry if that is frown upon, but i would still like some advice. I know it sucks that one has an advantage if they use buffbot, but i mostly have one for convenience(sp?) and to level up when no groups can be found.

Any help here would be appreciated, give us a warm welcome, and we will fight the long nights side by side with ya all :p

well if he is going to be a nightshade and you want to rvr with him the only thing you can do is make nightshade yourself or a ranger, neither are really accepted into normal fg vs fg rvr groups and a stealth duo can be a lot of fun.

will you both be playing at the same time? if so you will only really need the one bot and you can maybe make an enchanter as a kind of bot, use this as the main exper with focus shield, bot can heal, spec for the bot should be 50 nurt 20 reg at 50, i would get the 20 reg 1st that way you get all the heals you will need 1st. at 50 you can respec it to enchanments for the damage add "buff" doesnt last that long though.

or make a bard for your bot so you have end regain/power regain and basic heals.

Hiho Raven

Yeah we discussed the issue with him being Nightshade, meaning i almost had to be a stealther also... Suckage :p

But we plan to RvR alot when we are capable of it... (items). And we plan (for the most) to play together. Ofcourse, sometimes one gets of work earlier than the other... but we also share buffbot accounts anyways.

Agree we only need 1 Druid Bot. I thought about Bard for End song in PvE, and Mana Song also ofcourse, and speed to get to places. But dunno if he is hook on that char... because im not, until later.

I will do the 20 heal first, but wont we have trouble leveling up to 20 without any good buffs then? I mean, we will have crap items, and almost no clue about where to xp. (which is fun ofcourse... but still...)

The enchanter thing sounds interesting, since we most likely could use a farmer both... but a few concerns:

1: is it worth it to make the farmers first to get items for the RvR chars?

2: How long does it take to get level 50?

3: I read somewhere that that Focus Shield is nerfed, something with Aggro.

Thanks again...

P.S Whats the best farmer with a buffbot? Might aswell know, since i will most likely make one... im kinda an itemwhore...

depends what u want from the game, ani's are excellent pve gods of farming atm and pretty good rvr ( not great i know but very useful), dunno what will happen with inc nerf tbh though. focus shield is only nerfed against purple mobs red orange just the same its mainly the galla mobs ect, so chanters are still good also. stealther i would say go ranger with NF inc archers get uber love we are told. still like my warden and have the excellent resists for rvr and bubble for pve. also enjoy my menta for pve and light mentas are fun in rvr good nukes + orange/yellow pets or you get an anti mezz pet for nf

well the best farmer is an animist and druid or bard, with font of power, however thats from master level 5 so no good for you leveling up. you may even consider making a light mentalist, they can charm mobs and use them as pets, at level 50 you can charm salamanders in TOA which can pretty much kill anything when buffed (within reason ofc)

The thing is stealthers always have it hard getting into groups unless you have good connections and i wouldnt recomend them as a first toon. you could try animist/druid ment/druid enchanter/druid all have their + points and - points, however, if you make an animist you can join fins (power leveling groups in cursed forest) with this you can pretty much get level 50 on other toons in around 24 hours you would also ofc have the best farmer in the game too.

Well, I'm a ranger and I have a 39 lvl bb (full nurture, can't get bothered to level it any more) and a 50 bard (with a typical rvr spec) for running in normal groups.

Here's my two cents.

Leveling to 20 is fairly easy by doing kill tasks at domnann SI. Depending on your hours of play, you'll find it that you can get to 20 there from 1 to 3 days regardless of the character you play. Open www.javamansworld.com to get a decent map describing where each mob is, as the most difficult thing to do is to actually find them!

If you want to play together, you'll both have to go for stealthers. NS-Ranger duo is an amazing combination if you both know how to play. However, with only one being a stealther and the other one having a normal character, I'm sorry to say but you'll almost never RvR together, apart from some rare keep raids, when the stealther will mostly get exploited by the rest of the group (i.e. NS have a look inside the keep etc, Ranger take care of the archers or use fools bow on the door). That might change in-time by meeting people and increasing your reputation to such an extend that despite being a stealther you'll become a welcome addition to the group. However it does take a lot of time and effort. Lately, I have stoped grouping with other stealthers as well and going solo all the way apart from times when I group with a guildy.

If you run group characters make sure that you compliment each other in such a way as to be able to get in groups, or start groups easily. If you don't, then again you'll find yourselves in situations where one of you will stay behind and you might end up not playing together. One such combination that i would advise is to go for a bard and a chanter. The bard eventually will (well, might) become foper which is quite invaluable in most farming groups.

Decisions, decisions, decisions... Have fun tho, don't let hibernian pricks get to you. There are many good players out there willing to help.

PS. Leveling grind starts at 45. To give you some timing reference, it took me 25 hours non-stop pulling Lodes at CM to get from 49-50 :m00:

Superb replies...

I allready know what one of the problems will be: choices!

There are so many nice interesting classes to play... but we both want a "main". And hehe, 25 hours for the last level you say? That's nothing... remember we both come from SB... the last levels there are incredible slow.

One thing is sure, we wont ever leave the other behind, end of story. We are in this together, and we will play this for a long long time... There is no way im spending 700.- (danish money) on this and then stop after 1 month... Nah talking 6 months min. Guess its Ranger then... seems abit like our duo in SB, he was Bow Scout i was Bow Bard... lethal duo, both stealthers, damn fun :p

Best Buffbots for that duo? Nightshade/Ranger... remember we have 2? Are there anything else than what druid can provide, that could be a very good addon?

Also... our farmers. Should we make those first to get items? (i mean, nightshade & ranger... doesnt sound like PvE gods to me). Would it be more wise to start farmers first, and maybe level each others rvr toons up with the farmers?

Best farmers for us then? Animist+?, and buffbot Druid+?...

Thanks alot for all the answers, can really use it, oh and thanks for the link!

If you gonna go for NS Ranger then, I'd recommend a nurture druid and a bard for bbs. You'll find the end song amazingly helpfull. In my opinion you should be thinking about farmers initially as the primary expenses are minimal and you'll run into people that are willing to help you. If you make a ranger PM me in-game and I'll guarantee you bows till level 30 (only 700+ fletching I'm afraid!). Concerning arrows, you'll need to bring your fletching skill to 540 as to be able to make the top quality of arrows, and it's something that will take you about 5 hours to accomplish and less that 100g.

For guides regarding NS and rangers, and for valuable advise check www.perforateartery.com (for ns) and www.critshot.com (for rangers). Take into consideration that the guides that you'll find in there are all suited for different ways of playing. Picking up a class, doesn't mean that there is only one way to play it, specially if we're talking about stealther classes. Taking an example from the rangers, you can go for sniper, melee, hybrid, high or low stealth, etc. You will spec accordingly and get the RAs that suit your way of playing. Just because someone says that one way is better that doesn't mean that this way will be the best for you as well!

As I said before, have fun:) Hope that helps

And thanks for the offer on bows... ill hold you to it ;)

What do you mean by that... should we make farmers first, or should we farm with our NS/Ranger?

yes, if you guys would like to play together, get bard bb and druid bb, and when time is, get em masterlevel 5 perfectors both of em - you're irl friends so sharing bb's should be no problem and those classes are usually welcome in farm grps (or start em yourself... ml7 dungeon is a teriffic place to get expensive scrolls with fg) Or... you could try menta/chanter duo with bots, mana spec both of em, menta with HOT(heal over time) and chanter with focus and at lvl 20 you can do dampwood mites \o/ (they are really fun to kill) - dunno how well this duo works anymore, but it worked very nice and they can both farm (maybe respec menta to light or something at lvl 50)

1. Yes, if I did it all again I would roll buffbot and farm char first, then pl the hard classes.

2. All depends on class, stealthers take twice as long as normal characters which probably take twice as long as the very pve friendly chars (bard, warden). Also depends greatly on if you actualy play pve or would prefer to just sit in a corner while some animists pl you to 50.

3. Focus shield has been nerfed in that its not as good as it used to be. However a chanter+druid can still solo many arti encounters and ml group steps, though you now really need a mana menta or fop bot to be effective as the shield kills a lot slower than it did before. Focus pulling is still possible and faster than most types of exping if you have fop or hot.

The best farm duo atm is nuture spec druid and a light mentalist. The mentas pet is much higher level than a chanter, so can take a lot more punsihment, you rely more on its melee and spells than any dmg shield, buffed salamander pet > all :D

Good to return from staff meeting and see even more replies, thanks!

We will roll farmers then first.

How does this sound...

Animist + Light Menta as main "farmers"

Nurture Druid + ? (bard/or the HoT char?) as bots.

Damn Gear... and all you others... Its superb that there are so many different good ways to go... but it makes choosing them alot harder :p

Anyways this is final:

Nightshade+Ranger as a RvR duo with Bard+Nurture BB. (bard will be mostly for speed to the rvr place i guess?)

Farmers/PL: Animist+Light Menta (if ppl can agree it is a great duo+doable solo) with Nurture BB + ???...

Sounds ok to you all... ?

Look forward to owning Albs with ya all... Saturday first tho... tomorrow its :drink:

EDIT:

Nah screw that... if it is just as good with NS+Ranger we will start with those... why wait with getting into RvR!

Any start tips? Was told to get max RP's in Battlegrounds, but dunno if that matters?

aye, if you start with farm chars, get to bg1 and get 350 rps aka the cap, do not exeed lvl 24, then you will not be able to enter bg1... then get mcl on the chars which will help you greatly when lvling - if not, go bg anyway :) its much fun :D and GL with daoc ;)

Leveling farmers and BBs first will get you faster into serious RvR imho, as you will need the farmers to get you the money and artifacts for the stealthers, so they need to be around level 50 at the same time / before your stealthers...

My setup would be:

Account 1: manachanter
Account 2: manamenty
Account 3: Nurt druid
Account 4: Bard, animist or whatever you want to level 50 1st

Chanter, menty and BB trio can do huge pulls by themselves, and without having anything to PL, they'll hit high levels pretty fast. One problem you'll also have to deal with is to what account you will put your stealthers, so you can PL them effectively... After you're done with the PL-hassle, you can respec the mentalist to light, for artifact farming, and you'll hopefully have FoP on your druid by then :)

But I'm pretty sure the manachanter/menty duo is the most effective PL machine (without FoP and at lower levels), haven't played anis at all so can someone prove me wrong?

NS + Ranger = Sim Crit

macro a 3-2-1 count, send the NS up close to the mob, you, as the ranger, stand back, and on 3, both hit at the same time with your crits ....devastating to the mob, extremely satisfying for yourselves.

Ofc, the xp wont be amazing, but once you perfect the process, you will be able to speed it up and do some rather fast leveling.

Works better with 2 rangers, as with NS the creeping up can be a bit tiresome, but if ya m8 will chose one of hibs most specialised and difficult classes to play, then tough shit ;)

don't bother to go to 350 if u just want mcl just go 125 thats just enough rp's unless you are enjoying bg1 ( which i did and stayed till i capped out...lol)

I like my focus pulling, but basically lightmenta+nurture druid is better now :(
Why?

a). Chanter pet is lvl 43ish, with a manachanter you have perhaps green specs only for your pet. A light menta pet is lvl53ish and with a dr00d partner comes with specs, base and resists. End result - sally pet is virtualy indestructable making for less healing / safer pulls.

b). Damage output. Chanter dmg output is basically your base dmg shield + focus shield, which gets scaled down by level now :( Youll do ok with dmg shields but only against lower con mobs. Once you start hitting red/purples then you are taking quite a long time to kill them. Sally pet does dmg via melee and spells, with a lvl 53+ start edges ahead on dmg and thus pl time.

c). chanter + mana menta = no rezzer. Ok for static pulls but one cockup and your gonna have to release and walk back costing time.

Only way to really prove it is to go see how well you can do with both combos, at the lower level where your pulling ojs/yellows then chanter will be a lot more competative and the mana menta dots will work fine, but without specs on your pet then you wont be so hot against red/purple mobs.

Great replies again...

Games have arrived, and ive installed daoc. So ready to rock soon.
1 lame thing tho... 1 of the cd-keys said: "failed to register, this cd-key has allready been burned..."

Or something like that... wtf?! Going to the gameshop with it today, bastards!

Boni, that lightmenta/nurture druid duo might be better... but is that only thinking lvl 50 pl'ing/farming? We kinda want to level our farmers up fast also, so we can get into rvr faster... ;)

Should work for all levels, though I have to confess I havent leveled in this way, there should be appropriate pets available for all levels and your pet should be fairly indestructable as soon as your druid gets a full set of buffs (below lvl 20).

Well, we are starting in 1 hour, our setup is now final. We start with farmers.

Him: Mana Mentalist (might go Light at 50)
His BB: Bard (this was the only one we werent sure on...)

Me: Mana Chanter
My BB: Druid

Anything better than the Bard? Bard helps Pet getting faster back without getting to much dmg right? Later we could use it for Endurance when we lvl our RvR toons, dunno. Also usable for speedbot in enemyland? Also can be used as a RvR toon if he feels like it. But dunno if there is something better.

Seems pretty straight forward...

I buff & pull with pet, he HoT when needed, monsters take dmg, when they are low, i go inside crowd and PBAO until dead... Correct? Rince and Repeat.

looks good, not sure you need the bard for pets speed as chanters have their own speed which should suffice,. Having said that they did something with the pet speed in and out of combat last patch, and it might have changed...

good luck

well bard speed could be handy for when u make you stealther duo as a taxi to where u wanna go... or u could make it into a char u actually play if u enjoy it..

There are very very few lvlin groups nowadays for the old way of lvlin.... due to everyone going to fins with thie animists and fop...

i would suggest u join a guild, and try to get into a set lvlin group or something... it can be alot of fun.. and that way u get to pick almost any class u want and with a druid bb it makes things easier ofc.... there are many many good guilds out there, ClanBear Hawk, Celtic Leaf Army, Brotherhood of Hibernia... these are all good guilds with nice people in them..

tbh the main problem is what to do after u get to 40.. as a duo it gets very very slow.. as the amount of xp needed to lvl up is huge in comparrison to the last 40 lvls.. not to mention u get mini dings which giv half the regular spec pts of a main ding... and as i said before xp groups at that lvl basically come down to power lvl at fins which is unfortunate for hib, as it tends to spout out lots of lvl 50s that havent got a clue what they are doin...

but i think if u are playing your character a little bit up to a certain lvl u will learn certain aspects of it and u may even be lucky enough to meet someone who would be willing to help u lvl at fins at higher lvls... or if u are in the right guild u may be able to srt out some kind of lvlin scheme.. where u organise hunts to places to help the higher lvl people lvl thier artifacts and u go along to not only help them but get some extra xp... or if u have some artifacts lvl them also.. (so u know many artifacts can not be activted till lvl 46+)

just giving u some information and some ideas which may help u on your quest.. also dont get disheartened with your first lvl 50 char.. the first one always takes a bit of time :)

imo, mentalist+ bb is not as handy on lower lvls coz of chances that your charmed pet will resist, and focus can work fine with 2 when you pull oranges etc... but menta at lvl 50 will ofc do better as lightspec coz of the pet
