Ok,

I have tried a number of times to run AA and AS on DAOC a number of times in the past.

As you know you don't have the option to switch it on within game, so you have to do it from outside.

Previously I used a Radeon 9800 Pro and AMD 3000+ (old cpu) and it would not run with locking up after a certain time. I just put it down to ATI Hardware and motherboard etc etc.

Now on the next machine I had was an AMD 64 3500+ with a Nvidia 6800 GT, never tried running AA/AS on that.

Anyway built a new machine 7800 GTX and Dual AMD 64 4400 (2GB Memory) recently. So I thought bring it on and switch on all the options. Now we have a slight improvement. If I run just one account with 8AA and 4AS everything is fine, and looks beautiful. Anyway load 2nd account (Plenty of Memory and 2nd core available), that looks great as well.

BUT ... after a few switches between one accout and the other, DAOC locks up on one of the accounts.

Any thoughts ?

Or am I just being greedy ;)

Its when I run AA/AS with 2 accounts that it locks up.

if I switch off AA/AS then 2 accounts run fine and I can switch in a 1-2 seconds, with no hint of a lockup.

Well Daoc doesn't actually like forcing high AA and AS so i think the answer is yes your being too greedy :p

I have it set to application controlled for both settings, and it looks fine imo.

I know Ryuno, but all that spare GPU power is just sitting their waiting to be turned on and its saying "Turn it on, go on you know you want to".

Well lets hope that DR allows for AA/AS in game.

Could you tell me how you can turn on this AA and AS? Sounds pretty nice, and my pc should be able to handle 1 account that way pretty well.

for Nvidia cards, if you right click your desktop->properties. goto settings, advanced. Should be a tab there with your graphics card name, or Nvidia, something like that. Under is a option to change the global profile settings for lots of things. But it depends on your card and the drivers you running. Some options may not be there.

for ATi Cards, I can't remember. :)

Thats because AMD single core CPU's suck with dual logging, you need a pentium dual core or amd dual core, or pentium with HT

Ok, you're right :D i overread that.

If possible, try assigned each game.dll or daoc install to another CPU. Maybe should fix things.

Time to mess around a bit then. Thank you :)

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Ryuno again. :(
