Gave up smoking at 6pm lastnight. Got a 21mg nicotine patch on my arm, itched like hell at first, OK now though. Except I couldn't sleep a wink lastnight and when I did drop off briefly I had a constant stream of astonishingly weird & vivid nightmares... but apparently they stop after a few days

Best thing about it so far - in the smoking cessation group we all have to choose a "buddy" to phone/contact/massage/etc when things get tough and my buddy is a quite breathtakingly beautiful 24 yr old asian girl

Those patches do itch like buggery, and they do make your skin red, so don't wear them anywhere retarded, like say in the middle of your chest or on your forehead Not that you're likely to do anything quite so *special school*, but desperation does kick in when most of your upper arm looks like it has the bubonic plague.

And your sleep will go odd, I suppose its 24 hr nicotine intake which doesn't sit easy with sleep. I had some wicked dreams when i was on those patches

LOL Lou My problem is my arms are so thin and spindly that I'll run out of fresh places to put the patches fairly quickly.. prolly end up putting them on my bum or something

And yeah, the nightmares alstnight were very interesting, in a kind of Cronenberg-headfuck-OMGwtfismybraindoing way

One good thing I can say is that the patches work. I've been a non-smoker for over 4 months now after 7 years on the damn things.

One thing I did do though was to make sure I continued to go to the pub. Just so I got used to it. First couple of trips were hell, but afew well timed kicks to the shin from a friend helped me get through the evening.

Oh, and I feel much better as well. Go for it Granny.

Nope. I've no smoked for well over 10 years and I still get cravings and nightmares (although the latter may be due to playing Battlefield 1942 up until 2am).

Im planning to stop soon. Only had 2 today which aint bad for me. The first day for me is the hardest as I seem to have the male equivalent to PMT. It has to be said though, though at this time it feels great to go round moaning.

The only other thing that stops me wanting to stop is the fear of having taste buds come back where everything you eat tastes about x10 better than it normally would. Im trying to loose weight as it is

If you have trouble with the nightmares the 12hour patches might help. Ask your friendly local pharmacist

There is also a range of other options which i'm sure youve heard about, and make sure you let people around you know what your doing and tell them that they have to be supportive

Me. I smoke like a chimney if i'm getting pished but i dont crave them at all when i wake up the next morning.
