14 day trial + Catacombs

Hi, I want to buy the Catacombs key online for my 14 day USA trial, do you know if I need to download the new Catacombs client (2.3 gig) or if I can change my update.dat and update via the patcher... which is hopefully a lot less

Hm, I'm sure the patcher will download the same version as the 2.3GB version. So, you'll have to download 2.3GB regardless I think.

The trial includes the Catacombs graphics engine, that's why I was hoping it'd be less :<

No you do not 'need' a TOA key. You only need it if you want to either play the normal servers or play as a TOA race on the new 'classic' server.

Updater will update your client correctly (and it should be less than the full install) , tho you will need a catacombs.exe before doing it IIRC.

We figured it out, if you patch the trial to EU catacombs then to US, its about 1gb DL instead of 2.3

no i tried using cata with no ToA, when i tried to log in it said that my acc was invalid. on the server selection screen it said it requiers ToA

Your supposed to be able to bypass that - the Classic ruleset servers *do not* require you to have ToA to use Catacombs. Its been stated in a grabbag as well, and plenty of people around here have only Cata and no ToA and it works fine for them.

You are wrong, It does work fine without it mate. It works perfect for me and everyone else in my guild. Just click cancel, its only on the server select screen because obviously most of the servers do require cata to have TOA. If you access the new servers it will work fine without TOA, just click cancel to any message boxes that come up.

The account invalid message is a fault with the servers at the moment that happens when the server pop cap is hit after you go thru the server select but before your account connects to the server.

I've got an unused euro cata box at home. I'm presuming when you pay for the US CD key at 34.95 usd I'm getting the product too? Do they not do just the key only by any chance?
