Dropped from -10c to -12c here in the last hour, gonna be interesting to see how low it goes as the coldest period won't be until 5am in the morning. I can see another -16c like they got in Stockport yesterday.

I went out on the bike tonight. I've never had my breath freeze before:

Felt awesome though, unbelievably cold air, blood pumping, bike sliding all over the place. Great fun! Picking the frozen snot off my jacket wasn't that great though...

I just put my face out the front door, so cold it was like putting my head in the freezer. I fucking love this weather.

At times like these I'm glad I've got storage heating because it keeps the room warm overnight as it's charging up the heat for the day.

I took a step outside and I actually felt my balls retract. It was an unpleasant sensation.

I left the radiators on all night and slept between the bird and the cat.

Lurvely :)

Points West reckoned -20 last night in Yeovilton of all places for some bizarre reason.

tonight I closed the window in the bedroom for the first time in a year and a half :/

strangely the house now feels twice as warm, though that may be my fevered brow :/

Ah feck, water pipe that runs under my house has split. I can hear water roaring away now. Can't get to it either.

Best bit is, I don't know whose responsibility it is. Its on my land, but supplies all the other houses. If one was to turn the pipe off, it'd turn every house in the block off. I still have water, but at only half the pressure.

Shit. That sucks. If it's a shared shared resource I'd try and pin it on the water company (though I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to pin it on you 'cause all companies are cheap bastards...)

The good news is the leak is on my side. The bad news is I've had to destroy the floor to get to it.

I should have guessed, the kitchen was in that room when I moved in, I moved the kitchen elsewhere and the pipe that's split was the cold water pipe for the old sink, that is now stopped off. Obviously its frozen, had nowhere to expand, and split.

Easy enough to fix, but that room has always been a bit cold so I'm going to bung a radiator on the wall, and wrap the heating pipes around those water pipes. It won't happen again. Insurance job methinks.

Thats a bugger Tom - do you have one of those sleeve things to screw around the pipe?

Fixed it. I could have done it myself easily enough, but I'd already asked a plumber mate to come around and sort it. All that's left now is to put a temporary cover over the hole, and let the insurance deal with it.
