ok here goes (and i have owned both before i start)
1) The steering - is the best handling ever for a game, you can pull powerslides off real easy.. but its possible to lose control and crash. The car reacts to changes in elevation and over humps becomes a nightmare to control!
2) The Control Pad - Ok maybe you small fingered people hate the control pad but its the best setup for racing games along with the dreamcast. The accelerate and brake buttons and those big cunky buttons at the back of the pad meaning it feels like you are pushing a real brake or accelerator
3) Tracks - hundreds of them, and this time they arent all the same with just a extra corner. Some tracks are real challenging
4) Graphics - Probably on par with GT3 but, it doesnt have amazing weather effects like PGR. Fog, rain, thunder storms and when the track is wet you get these amazing reflections which show up nicely on my 32" Tv
5) Cars - PGR only has something like 30 cars, but 30 well chosen cars. You start off with a mini cooper, mercedes Slk and a toyota mr2 - not bad for the start of a game! After only a hours play i had got the nissan skyline and the engine on that is a beast.
6) Replay Value - Quick Race, Arcade Race, Kudos Challenge and time attack. Quick race lets you enter street races against 5 opponents in San francisco, london, new york and tokyo. Every time you complete 4 races you get a luvly jubbly new car, so its worth playing the quick race.
Arcade race - a battle against 5 opponents and against the kudos meter. Style and speed count here and every time you win 4 races, you get a new car, colour or helmet etc..
Kudos Challenge - 8 styles of race on 12 levels including overtaking, hot lap, timed run and 1 vs 1
7) Opponent difficulty - When i first started playing this i thought yeah another easy racing game that im gonna complete in a week... until i reached the san fransico level - the other cars are so clever, they try and take you out when behind you, they block you off on the straights and cut you up on corners.
The start of the race is abosulute mayhem, cars goin everywhere.
8) Sense of speed - Speaks for itself
9) Music - 60 tracks worth of music on there and you can stick your own music on the HD and create your own playlist
10) erm think i've covered everything, so i might as well give fellow PGR racers a tip. If the opponent spins your car around, start driving the car in reverse , blocking them off until the next corner, then spin it round 180 degrees and carry on.
