Dark Age of Camelot
Test Version 1.76b Release Notes
Guild System Enhancements
June 2, 2005

===================================

INTRODUCTION TO BASIC CRAFTING

This version introduces a new Basic Crafting tradeskill, which will be granted to all newly created characters, as well as existing characters which have not yet joined a craft order, as a means of introducing how crafting works in Dark Age of Camelot. For more information, please read BASIC CRAFTING section below.

NEW THINGS AND BUG FIXES

- The /bg grantcredit command will now function properly when granting credit for ML10.

- (Pendragon Only) In some cases, boats were getting stuck and were unable to move in the North Sea in New Frontiers. This has been fixed.

- (Pendragon Only) Due to issues with the fossil healer pet not casting their heal spell while being attacked by enemy targets, we have backed out of the change that was intended to keep the pet from running away indefinitely from attackers.

BASIC CRAFTING

We are proud to introduce our Basic Crafting system. This system was designed and built with the new player in mind, as a means of introducing the new player to the craft system available in Dark Age of Camelot. Here is some more information on the system and how it works:

- All newly created characters, as well as existing characters which have not yet joined a crafting order, will be granted the Basic Crafting skill upon logging into the game.

- Since Basic Crafting is purely an introductory crafting system for new players, or existing players who haven't chosen a crafting order, recipes in this system are limited to samples of all of the original orders (tailoring, weaponcrafting, armorcrafting and fletching), up to items that require 200 points of skill. The Basic Crafting skill cannot exceed 200 points and if players reach that level, they are encouraged to choose one of the advanced crafting orders in order to proceed to recipes that exceed 200 points of skill.

- Spellcraft and Alchemy are excluded from the Basic Crafting order system.

- Players may choose another crafting order to have the Basic Crafting order replaced. When doing so, any skills shared between Basic Crafting and the new order will be transferred. Since Spellcrafting and Alchemy do not share any skills with Basic Crafting, in cases where the player chooses Spellcrafting or Alchemy as an advanced craft order, all of the Basic Crafting skills and sub-skills will be removed.

- While players will be granted the four original advanced crafting orders (tailoring, weaponcrafting, armorcrafting and fletching) along with Basic Crafting, those orders can never exceed the Basic Crafting skill level. If a player wishes to pursue an advanced crafting order instead of Basic Crafting, he must visit the appropriate advanced crafting trainer and have the Basic Crafting skill removed by selecting the advanced order.

NEW FRONTIERS WORLD NOTES

- Basilisks and cockatrice have had their chance to stun reduced.

- The shades inside the Passage of Conflict will no longer attack players while they are invulnerable.

CLASSIC CAMELOT WORLD NOTES

Quests - Midgard

- Sveabone Hilt Sword - Players can now find low level Sveawolf cubs on the northern edge of Vasudheim.

- Family Business - This quest has been updated to reflect the recent monster changes in Myrkwood and the minimum level has been changed to 26.

- Krrrck's Torment - This quest's minimum level has been raised to 32. Bonedancers and Warlocks have been added to the list of classes that can start this quest.

- The Creatures of Myrkwood - All three versions of this quest should now fit in with the updated monster levels. Several kills needed for these quests have been relocated or changed to more appropriate level monsters.

Quests - Albion

- Supplies for Lillian - This quest has been updated to reflect the recent monster changes in the Avalon Marsh and the minimum level has been changed to 28.

Wish they'd do something about advanced crafting instead of adding basic crafting. Crafting is really underappreciated with ToA

Another nothing note, and A was such a promising start, hope C has something worthwhile.

Ahh, Sorcerers are clearly being nibbled at the edges in 1.76, first the SoI + MoC nerf, and now the stun chickens. ;)

Should make higher level crafts more usefull, skill all the way from 0 to 1100 odd and you can only make 3 or so MP bits to sell... Thats alot of time and ingame money spent just to beable to produce 3-4 things with AC/Tailor.

I'd imagine WC/Fletching is pretty useless with high end due to weapon artifacts, guess they can make LG weapons now and then at random quality chance..
Fletching seems only good as a 2nd line to me tbh, get main skill up to 800 or so, and just get 500 fletching if you want arrows, higher then that is pointless. :(

At least theres always a demand for Achemists with armor reactives/charges/pots and even more so for Spellcrafters to fix up someones 3-4 items.

PS. Anyone know roughly how much time/gold is needed to skill from 1000 Tailoring to beable to craft MP studded armor?

blah... stop whinging about crafting being sooo expensive to skill up etc etc... if you're an AC'er just sell 4 or 5 MP items at current rates and you have your skilling up expenses well covered :twak:

He wasn't complaing as much about the cost as the fact that most trades are virtually useless until 1100+, and some even then.

DAoC crafting is a joke since ToA, it takes a large time investment and there is practically no pay off, ever since we got dropped items and artifacts with 6 slots no one has wanted to bother with crafted stuff unless they have no other option. Mythic seriously need to go back and rework crafting, they also need to up the amount of utility value that level 51 crafted items get and allow 6 slot spellcrafting.

At 1000 skill you can make all top tier studded, cloth and leather less the vest/chest piece. I think that appears as a red con make around 1040 skill.

I don't know if it's just because after 1000 skill you only have 165 points to cap, but it seems to go so much faster. I gained 40 points in Tailoring yesterday (1049-1089) in around 6 hours or so.

HTH :)

I do see your point, as long as it concerns fletching and weapon crafting. I do not see the point in respect to armor crafting, spellcrafting and alchemy. Especially AC'ing is easier since ToA as you don't need to craft chestpieces (thanks to artifacts), hence you can make good money from as soon as you hit 1000 skill. And everyone needs their crafted items SC'ed & alchemised, don't you agree? And seeing that less and less crafters are willing to do spend time using their profession the remaining active crafters can make quite some coin because it's them who set the prices and not the consumers. But of course, as long as you "work for the good of the realm" and are afraid of charging more than material costthen you can keep on whinging about crafting being nerfed and all that. If crafters don't charge what the consumer is willing to pay then it's their own fault for being poor, as simple as that.
Note: the only thing that REALLY needs a change is that AC is depending on having a tailor as well...

The top items are at 1115 skill, which you can first get (with a 1% chance of success) at 1066 skill.

You generally gain more skill on advanced stuff (ie double quilted cloth and padded leather) in my experience. It's more expensive, but that tends to balance out on the higher tiers.

Speed wise, I guess it's a fair while. At the high levels it'll take about 80 seconds per make on a non-grey item, with about a 20-25% chance of skill gain per success on an even skill item, with only a 50% chance of a make. So that's about 15 minutes per point of skill.

Price wise, 3-4 plat to skill tailoring to Legendary. That makes it pretty cheap to skill up and make your own MP. A lot more time efficient to farm some scrolls for sale and buy, though.

From what I remember from reading patch notes (not sure what version) they are introducing npcs that will sell the tailored items you need in order to AC to make things easier. :D

(If I misread it and am wrong sorry, but pretty sure thats correct :))
