Because I know hundreds will ask and many will d/l the wrong files, here is what you need to d/l:

Upgrade Paths
Mod users:
Counter-Strike 1.4 and Half-Life 1.1.0.9 are due to be released today. You need these files if you're a mod user. Click here for download links. You can also use auto-update.
Retail users:
Half-Life: Counter-Strike 1.0.0.4 is due to be released today. You need this upgrade file if you're a retail user. The retail Half-Life: Counter-Strike version 1.0.0.4 has all relevant changes that are in CS 1.4 and HL 1.1.0.9. Click here for download links. You can also use auto-update.

Auto update:
If you have Half-Life, run SierraUp.exe located in your Half-Life directory, you will be presented with all the mirrors for the Half-Life update. You will still need to download Counter-Strike mod files. Retail users can do the same (SierraUp.exe in retail directory), it will be the only download you need to grab. If you use auto-update, you do not need to download the same patches below.

Oh yeah if your like Adz, and cant convert time zones then the release time is 7pm our time.

Just to clarify, Adz is really bad at converting time zones, the release is for 11am PST, which is 7pm over here. As I stated many times in #a&i.cs "Adz is a tit", but no one has changed their topic yet :)

I got Steam working this morning and have just returned from playing steam CS, I take it that that Steam CS isn't fully 1.4 but seems to encorporate many things from 1.4. The jumping stamina drop that has been introduced is terrible and it generally felt slow to me. I'm off to play 1.3 while I still can.

Anyone know how big the retail patch is going to be yet ?
Amazing , 1.4 is just coming out , yet if you veiw "todays active topics" , theres just loads of posts about some cakky role playing game ;P

Well the update mod file for 1.3 was about 35 megs - I don't think 1.4 will be that big, as there's less in the way of new media incorporated (ie models, textures etc). The linux patch file which has already been released was only 14 meg compared to 30 for the 1.1 to 1.3 upgrade - I'd guess under 20 megs for the Windows mod files.
As for the HL 1.0.0.9 files, that's anyone's guess. The Windows server patches are about 10 megs but I'd expect more for the client files.

That was the full install file, you're right it was about 70mb. I was referring to the update patch (1.1>1.3).

I just noticed its 36 mb for retail update, btw, which obviously wont work, or will have maps missing or whatever :(
Have you seen what them knobs in the role play thing write ?

I upgraded 1.1 > 1.2 > 1.3 actually , cos i uses retail :)

Why are you speculating about file sizes? If anyone paid attention and used the link I provided it tells you the file sizes.

1.4 retail full is 36 mb for the upgrade and 107.7mb for the full version.

hl1.1.0.9 is 12mb for the upgrade and 79mg for the full.

The only one you should be speculating on is the mod upgrade and full versions of 1.4, but I doubt they will be different to the usuall. Expect about 20mb for the upgrade and 80 or so for the full.

Bah just got back online coz my net fucked up :/

I thought it was down to my ISP until i opened my Firewall (which wasnt running) and deleted all the progs in its list and let it restart... now everythin is back and workin...

time to find a mirror..
