1.32 Patch Problem

I am new to Q3 and have just installed it and applied the 1.32 patch, the problem is I can still only connect to 1.30 servers

Any ideas why?

Can you supply some more info Monty, like which servers you are trying to connect to. Also have you definitely installed 1.32 + PunkBuster?

Thx for the reply bigfoot, I have found what the problem was.

I went to re-aply the patch and found it was patching a non existant Quake 3 Arena on my C: drive, the game is installed on my D:, once i noticed and changed where it was applying to it worked fine.

ahem its me again


I have the 1.32 patch installed and can connect to 1.32 games

However I tried to connect to one server which said it I needed punkbuster installed.............I installed it with the patch and I understand its self updating

The server was:

EU/UK Domino: Sudden Impact 194.70.50.2:27961

Any ideas?

You need to enable PB in the Multiplayer menu to be able to join PB servers. You may also find some problems updating PB, if you do go here:

I am not a swearing man but this punkbuster thing is making me want to smash my computer to bits


When I click on it in Multiplayer it says "do you want to enable punkbuster" I click yes and nothing happens, I reboot I keep doing it...........nothing grrrrrrrrrrrr


Tried it again wiythout using my mouse and when I click yes it says "punkbuster will be disabled when you next load quake 3" aaaaahhhhhh its already disabled

Is it me!!!!!!!

The easiest way I find to enable it, is when connecting to a server, and you get the "This server requires punkbuster... Install latest patch..." message, to pull down the console (press the ` key - left of "1"), and type "\Pb_cl_enable" (without the quotes). This will enable pb, and continue to join the server as normal.
