Hmm, I have the earlier US 1.3, thats the same I assume ?

1.31 is an update to 1.30, I believe fixing bugs like the wallhack n stuff?

They did do US and European flavours of the 1.3 patch, but it looks like 1.31 is universal.

This one was supposed to be a bug-fixer for 1.3, but given its size (47 Mb, ouch!) and the time it took to get it out, I'm assuming they delayed it to add some stuff that would otherwise have made it in 1.4.

In terms of fixing severe problems people had with the 1.3 patch, I think they should have released a 'proper' 1.31 within a week or so, to address bugs that impeded play, then concentrated on further tweaks in 1.4 - just my two cents....

Well Ill have to take your word for it that they did a euro 1.30, as the EAUK servers have all remained resolutely 1.2, depite the fact that all the copies of RtR sold mean that no one hardly plays on them any more, as they are all on 1.3 ...
Confusing ol world I guess :)

ok,i have paid my subscription to barrysworld,but i cant dl patch from game.net,it asks for my email and when i put in my password it says its either email or password is invalid, any ideas?

Game.Net uses the email account which is the registered contact addy for your BW / Game.Net account to login with, along with your BW / Game.Net password. So for example if your account is jkl@barrysworld.com but you set it up so that your contact addy is jkl@hotmail.com, you login using jkl@hotmail.com as the username. Don't ask me why it is designed like this, I presume there is a reason.

For all those people who don't fancy grabbing the 46 meg patch bear in mind that's the complete patch and will update a fresh install of bf42 to 1.31. There's a smaller 133KB patch that will update you to 1.31 from 1.3

One hour and 45 minutes at 64 k, about 50 minutes at 14 k.
About 10 minutes on Broadband I know , o well there you go.

The EA UK servers are not 1.2 because there was no Euro 1.3...

EAUK now have some servers on RtR, which have to be on 1.3 (this is why 1.3 was rushed out the door, for RtR release), but the 'standard' servers were kept on 1.2 because of the multitude of problems people had with the 1.3 patch.

im downloading the patch now:clap:

however BW servers do not run 1.31:puke:

any ideas when the server will be swapped over pls?

Ok now I read my previous post and see how confusing the 'double negative' was!

I meant, EA didn't keep their standard UK servers on 1.2 because of a lack of a Euro 1.3 (because there was a Euro 1.3!)

That better?! :)

Server will be done over the weekend so no fear.. Im there (as usual) prodding the server bods so hopefully within the next 24 hours .. but dont quote me on it.

I got this info off one of the main guys over at MPUK and since then neither he, nor I have been able to find it, and he's not 100% sure where he got it from either.

Sorry but it looks like for the time being you'll need to get the large file unless he or I can find it.

Sound problems still seem to be one of the major problems left in the game, a problem I consider more annoying than anything else.

In case it helps anyone, they also published a 'sound guide' in the community message on the website (and presumably also in the patch readme), with advice on settings for various sound cards.

If you haven't seen it, they advise 44khz, high sound detail and hardware acceleration enabled for Audigy and Audigy 2, and 44khz, high sound detail and hardware acceleration disabled for Sound Blaster Live.

Guessing most people will have already tried every combination of these settings if they have sound problems, but if you still have problems with their recommended settings, you now have good reason to complain!
