1.29 or 1.27?

Im fairly new to PC quake and have installed the latest 1.29 patch, now i find most uk servers use 1.27.
Bearing in mind i am a modem user is it worth downloading the 1.27 patch and installing that?
Would i see a big improvement in my ping if i played on uk servers or does it not make that much difference?
Will UK servers be staying with 1.27 for the forseeable future or is a change imminent?
Lastly how big is rocket arena here ? lots of populated servers ???

another noob question

Okay my bro has team arena if i install that it will upgrade my new Q3 install to 1.27 right?
And if i then unistall Team Arena i am left with Q3 ver 1.27 that right??? If i can do that saves me downloading the patch
WILL THIS WORK and do i need anything else to play on UK servers ?????

Yes it will work,tho you don't need to uninstall Team Arena

I'd also recommend downloading 1.27h (only a small download,think TA installs 1.27g)

Damn i allways do it!!!
After about a month of sky high ping playing Rocket Arena on usa servers i install 1.27 so i can play on UK servers.....and the day after i find out there is a new point release (thanks for the advice cham and speccy heh came just a little to late allready installed 1.27g/team arena) no doubt all UK servers will be changed real soon.
This coming after installing 1.2 counterstrike and playing for a few weeks before 1.3 was released!!!! (and not being able to install 1.3 but thats another story)

I know that an awful lot of servers have already been upgraded to 1.30. Also, with months of 1.27 / 1.29, BETA, etc differences going on, I'd expect every server worth playing on to be upgraded to 1.30 by tonight, so I'd go get the patch if you aint got it already.
