I see ID have released a patch for what was supposed to be the final patch (1.27g) which fixes some of the issues with 1.27g including the frame rate losses (for some people) and the mouse sensitivity issue. Has anyone used it yet?

Aint tried it mate.
I'll d/load later, but wont be installing it cos its a beta and so prolly wont end up on the league servers.
If public opinion is strong enough and orangesmoothie incorporate it into their future versions, I guess the leagues may be forced to use it too.
I just want me old mouse sensitivity back and I dont wanna be sarge!!!!!!!!!!! gggggggrrrrrrrrrrr :p

Hmm, things change quick these days! :)
H is apparently backwards compatible, although still a beta.
Im told that the /sensitivity is not fixed in the 'h' patch, despite id suggesting it is.
Wtf are ID on? :rolleyes:

If you go to planetquake, there is an excerpt from Robert Duffys .plan, which seems to imply that it is compatible with 1.27g - I will try it later and see.

Mouse sensitivity problems can be even worse for some when using 1.27h, some information about the possible FPS increase:

The Linux patch should be out soon. Bernd ( Loki ) is working on it.

FYI: The possible FPS gain is due to how sound was mixed ahead.. Graeme used to mix ahead a set number of frames and he figured out a nice way to calculate exactly how much is needed. The gain or lack thereof will be system dependent etc.

Have just tried 1.27h and tbh, it does not fix the mouse sens prob for me. It is still b0rked, I just cant seem to get the feel right, even with mouse sens accel off in windoze.

However, it does work on 1.27g servers, so if you get the fps increase, its certainly no worse than 1.27g !!

"final patch" is this true.
has q3 got to big for ID, i think yes and how much money do ID get from patches. will any new game from ID make money, it would have to be very very special. if it was that special would it run on a standard machine, back to the x-box if ID are after cash. cross thread post sort of.

My mouse sense is still the same as it was in 'G', i.e. I have to use 8 instead of the 15 I was using in version 117 ............ and all my models are still sarge, despite specifying razor in my autoexec AND having forcemodels on! pah! ggggrrrrrr

hehe Cham, u are obviously exactly the same as myself. I used 15 with 1.17 also. Thing is, do you find that even with it set to 8, and this being roughly the equivalent sensitivity to 15 with 1.17, that something still "feels" different? I cant quite put my finger on what it is.?

Mine sens is still b0rked with 1.27h btw.

I've got it at 8, but im not sure tbh. Funny u should mention it cos I was just thinking about trying 10 when I get home tonight :) hehe
It just doesnt feel quite right. My rl is ok, but then thats splashy typey damagey init, but my rg is off and on and its winding me up, ggrrr
I know I have accel off in windows, but is there a accel command in q3? cos if there is, I have no idea what ive got it set to :/

Yeah there is a command in q3, its cl_mouseaccel but it defaults to 0 or off so I dont think this is the problem. The problem is not just with mouse acceleration in windows though.

As I understand it, Quake3 actually had a bug in it (the one we got used to) where the code did not recognise any of the settings from windows in the game. Now it takes in ALL of the settings. This is why even with mouse acceleration off in windows, u still have to lower sensitivity in Q3- because the sensitivity from windows is still carried over. Problem is, to compensate for the fact that accel is now turned off in windows, like me you probably had to increase the sensitivity there, which is now carried into the game.

Having thought about this I think the problem is probably in the up/down sensitivity. In windows, sensitivity is the same in all directions, whereas in Q3, left/right and up/down are independant. I think this can be adjusted by m_yaw or something like that. I will investigate and see what I can do.

Yeah I had to turn accel off in windows straight after trying 'g' patch for the first time. Tbh, I didnt even know i was using it in windows b4 :)
Why would ID think that ppl would want to have their windows mouse settings in q3? That's madness imo. I want one setting for windows and another for q3. Just cos I play q3 on a pc which is loaded with windows doesnt mean I want those windows settings to feed into q3 ffs!! I'll play solitaire if I want to game in a windows style environment! pah!
Let me know how u get on with that yaw and pitch stuff mate.
