Astonishing. This graph tells it all really:

There are signs that what is already happening to Antarctica's ice sheets is in the worst-case scenario range of what was predicted

This reminds me of another story earlier this year about sea temperature - which produced this graph:

We really are completely fucked aren't we :(

All I feel I can do is minimise my own contribution. I'm already insulating the hell out of this house, heat pump will be next (Octopus have just announced their own heat pump) so once that's in the gas will be disconnected. I rarely use my car except for work (shopping trips are done by bike), not a lot else I can do. When my car dies I'll hopefully replace it with a Tesla and that'll see me through to retirement, beyond which I don't want a car.

How to piss car manufacturers off - keep moving the goalposts.

A lot of them will continue their process of going to mainly EV models no matter what Rishi says, plus Labour have also stated they remain committed to the 2030 target thus Rishi got what he really wanted is a wedge issue.

Lindsay Hoyle is spitting neutrons, quite rightly as well:

I think Octopus Energy state you need at least a D EPC rating, A being the highest and G the lowest, our house started out as B and due to the Solar would now be an A grade.

That whole article should be condensed to "you need well-insulated homes". Doesn't matter what you use to heat it. "you need well-insulated homes".

From the grauniad:

polling from Ipsos found the public were split over Sunak’s policy of a delay to net zero targets.

...of those who knew something about the policy, 47% felt the government was right, and 46% that it was wrong.

About 71% of 2019 Conservative voters who were polled and aware of the announcement said it was the right decision, compared with 24% of 2019 Labour voters

So 71% of conservative voters should be shot in the face on environmental grounds and probably the equivalent of Labour voters on social grounds.

What we do know is that the UK is one of the most supportive of environmental policies. So what does that say aboit the human race? :(
