I've been toying with the idea of:
GoPro Hero 3 Black Edition (just about squeezes into the £300 limit by 1p...normally £360 but I found a healthy discount
OR
Leatherman 30th anniversary limited edition boxset - ltd edition Supertool 300 + ltd Micra + Leather holster for Supertool 300 + snazzy wooden presentation box - £180
+
Zebralight SC600 Mk II 900 lumen flashlight - £90
+
Nitecore Intellicharger 4 bay 18650 charger - £20
+
1 x Nitecore 18650 3100mAh battery - £10
OR
Leica D210 Digital Laser Rangefinder / laser tape-measure - £150
+
DeWalt 10.8v XR Lithium-ion Screwdriver with two batteries and charger - £108
+
Makita toolbag - £40
OR
DeWalt DCF895M2 18v XR Impact Driver + charger + 2 x 4Ah batteries
OR
something else? I'm being very indecisive on what to get at the minute because the gopro is just a gadget i've fancied for a while, i have no specific use in mind other than probably making HD Porn with the wife... The knives & torch I'd probably get a lot of use out of over the years but not specifically right now, i'm also a bit wary because i already have several quality torches, big multitools and a little multitool... they're just.. more.
The first lot of tools i would get a ton of use out of right now as i'm in the middle of a massive house renovation - BUT the screwdriver is just an (admittedly BIG) upgrade over my existing dewalt electric screwdriver + having two batteries would massively increase efficiency as my existing model only has one and is so old it is not actually possible to buy the batteries anymore as it was discontinued over a decade ago.
The impact driver is for a couple of specific jobs that my 24v hammer drill/driver isn't up to, and while it's expensive as a one-off item, the batteries and charger on their own are worth £180 and I have a couple more tool purchases planned in the next few months that are compatible with those batteries, meaning that i can buy the bare-tool version of those items in the future and save myself £180 a pop over the kit prices- each time. probably have significant use for this type of tool in the long term meaning i can't justify hiring one
