Darkspire mini raid

Since i haven't gone near darkspire, thought i would organise a mini group raid, on Tuesday 7th june 1900GMT (2000 CET)

The pre's are you must have catacombs installed (obviously), Lotto Will be FFA. I would prefer LvL 50's, but will con high 40's

Its just a fun raid, also any helpfull hints for DS are appreciated

I'd like a random spot with my Scout, Elphias please. I appreciate you may take higher level random classes over him though.

sure have not been in DS before, so not sure how you will fair, :) if you chew dirt too quickly (hopefully not) then might need to rethink if thats ok with u?

Mainly interested in just exploring the zone, been told not to go there without a group. :p

If you prefer another class other then scout I have a lvl48 minstrell going by the name of Yujie SongBird. :)

catacombs high level instance, has nice drops as well, but just going for fun and a bit of adventurer (if any is left in daoc :D )

iv'e done this raid plenty of times now with my guild, and tbh at least 1 lvl 50 icewizz wont be a bad addition, because: when it takes to long you'll get zerged.

That's fine with me :)

I've been on one DS raid with my Paladin, which went well. I guess we'll just have to play it by ear.

darkspire is fun :)

at least as a mid tank I can say that its the best PVE melee I have had :clap:

If you want to reach the final boss you'll need at least one ice wizzie and a FoP, up to the final areas though a tank heavy group does the job nicely :)

Any idea how are mobs against fire resists? If it is similar to ml7 dungeon better forget heretic. Oh btw, Heretic has fop while reaver has all the goodies! ;)

tanks are very important here, casters might get you through the dungeon itself fast, but you must make sure you dont lack tank power when u take on Mordred



***SPOILER***







When you enter you'll see a group of dwarves, DO NOT ATTACK THEM, just talk to the leader and he'll walk away. At this point you'll need to start clearing the mobs through the tunnels. They have a pretty nasty damage shield, and are fairly difficult but with a good group they shouldnt be a problem. Pull them to you, they come in groups of 3 (sometimes will have a caster or an archer).

There are a few named "bosses" along these paths but none of them are too difficult. One of the bosses (Otr I think) spawns skeletons that will grapple you. Just focus on the main mob, another morphing mob comes w/ him but he's a straight up melee fight.

Later on you'll come to a junction where it looks like the the left (north) is a dead end, and right (south) leads to a big room. However to get to that room you MUST go to the northern path and kill the bosses there. One of them is an SM, the other (the dwarf you spoke to in the beginning) is a straight tank. Just take them down one at a time. The SM will port around the room, so its not wise to stick him unless youve cleared all aggro. After they've fallen a familiar face to mythology buffs will show up and open the doors to DS for you.

Continue along the southern path clearing mobs until you get through the doors. You'll be at the top of the darkspire room. Ahead of you is a ledge that has lots of constantly spawning purp and red aggro that run along the path circulating the spire. On top of the spire ahead of you is a green "mob" called crystal of summoning. Your goal here is to get to the edge, kill that green crystal, and run out of aggro range alive. CC the adds and focus on the crystal, when crystal falls move out of range and rest up. This will slow the spawn rate.

Looking at your map you should see 3 smaller rooms around the large room. After destroying the first crystal, use SoS if you have it and sprint down into the first room (it will be the first left) get inside and away from the ledge. CC the adds that follow you and focus on the main mob (Trapmaster). After he falls finish clearing the remaining aggro. You should see several obelisks around the room. Right clicking on them will break them. Click them all until someone gets a crystal of some kind. They do about 300 damage per obelisk you drop so be careful. Now whoever got the crystal needs to right click on the big glowing crystal, the crystal in your inventory should dissappear. Rest up and get ready to move again.

When you are ready, move out of the room (dragging all aggro with you) moving down the ramp until you reach a ledge (it will be on your right) across from this ledge is another crystal of summoning. Kill it fast (a gargoyle may come to repair it, just attack the gargoyle to make him flee). When crystal falls SoS or run like hell into the next room down the ramp on the left. Drag all aggro inside, CCing like crazy. Again, focus on the main mob (a mage), after he falls finish clearing aggro (its easy to wipe here, just come back if you do, just make sure to kill main guy). And rest up. Still one crystal to go.

Do the same thing as before, following the ramp down, dragging aggro, destroying the crystal (make sure gargoyle doesnt repair), and getting into the next room fast. Kill the final mini-boss mob and you should get another crystal. Whoever got it right click on the big crystal. Mob spawn should be stopped at this point.

Rest up and move down to the ground level. Move around the side of the spire until you see a gate and a bridge. Across the bridge is another named mob along with several archer mobs. Run across the bridge as fast as possible, as nasty "turret" caster guards pop above the other side of the bridge. Hug the spire wall and kill the named mob, dealing with adds. As long as you stay out of LoS of caster gargoyle things, you shouldnt have to worry about them much.

After he falls rest up (youll need it). You now have to climb the spire. There are a few red/purp mobs on the way, but theyre no trouble by now. The problem is the orange gargoyle mobs. They will pick you up and drop you across bridge in range of the caster turrets. Stun them as soon as you see them, dont give them a chance to pick you up. Keep going til you reach the top. If they do pick you up run like hell out of the range of those nasty casters.

When you make your way to the top you will encounter Morgana. She's a wimp, just tank her down to a certain % hp (was about 30ish for us) and she'll port away. She'll leave behind a red glow that ports you across the chasm to the final boss room. Dont worry if you get caught in the portal, there is another portal wall between you and death.

Mordred is next, and he took us a while to figure out. Make sure your group stays behind the glowing red wall at this point. Mordred has 3 "witch" guards that spawn nasty aggro (SMs, BDs, Theurgs, etc). You cannot damage these witches, so dont even try. The only way to kill them is to kill Mordred. It took us several ways but we came up with a trick that seems to work fine. Have your group stay behind the wall. Send in a shield tank to get all the aggro. Have the tank move back to the rear end of the room so he can be healed (or rezzed) from outside. Do not back up to far or you will be ported to throne. You cannot leave this room once you pass the red wall, so make sure the tank is the ONLY one that does this.

Mordred however, can and does leave the room. It is likely he will aggro a healer and move to the ledge, AWAY from his witches. Not sure if this is a bug but this is how we did it. The tank inside the room is basically just a decoy for the witches. Everyone else wail on Mordred. Keep the adds that the witches send your way mezzed and you'll be fine. Note that one of the witches (or maybe its Mordred) has a nasty attack that turns you into an obelisk. You can purge it but there doesnt seem to be an immunity timer. It stuns you and damages you, and basically they just eat you alive if you get obelisked. If you manage to get Mordred out of that room you should have no problem with him.

this is the mid walkthrough but it is as good as the same but with just a few name changes.

(this is a mid walk through but its is the exact same strategy you need for alb (depending on your grp setup))
