They've made me an offer which looks reasonable, but i've taken advice and i'm not going to accept it, either way it's enough to live on for a couple of months quite confortably.

Yeah, but it's going to run out, thats the problem.
I know this is going to sound like an insult (and i don't intend it too, honest) but, have you considered Microsoft?
Either that or Teleworking. Decent enough wage's but big assignments once your established.

:)

i accepted the offer of redundency. they upped it over their first offer and it's now at an acceptable level (although a 5 figure sum would have been nice i didn't push it)

now i have time to unlock everything on burnout 3 takedown and play GTA:SA far too much whilst being paid for it!

One of the guys in our place 'BT' (don't laugh or flame or stalk me with a gun)
took a year out to work in Holland on Cisco? or Sisco or whatever that net stuff is.
He was a fuckin idiot, no shit, clueless always asking everyone what to do, they just couldn't get many people to commit to a year abroad.
He worked with a load of Dutch guys who pulled him through, but here's the stinker he earned in that year.... no shit here

120 fucking grand!!!!

We were in shock for a month.

Bsically he touched lucky cos he was single and could take a year abroad no problem and he put up with moving to a different hotel every night and just took any shit they gave him, but really 120 grand!!!

So try that cisco stuff seems they have money to burn.

my mum got the sweetest deal ever when she got sacked, some 90k payoff, a fuck load of more stock options (which at the time made her nearly a million quid, lucky bish) and she got to keep her computer...she was pretty much one of the founding ppl tho and she was a shit hot coder - now shes the gone the way of all shit hot coders - smokes pot in her custom built music room and listens to.....music! and plays her cello and piano and all the other shit she bought.

if i ever get sacked, thats the way i wanna go. Shame you hadnt been with your company a bit longer yaruar, they might well have given you 50k to fuck off quietly :(
