Right How do I get my bad boy online?

I dont have a router, my Internet is provided by Telewest so I have a Cable going into a Modem then another cable going into my Computer.

Can I connect to the internet by buying something other than a router?

short term solution would be to disconnect the PC tinternet cable when you want to use the Wii, long term the best way it to use a router, can pick a second hand one up off ebay for £30ish i would have thought.

Wireless router attached to the modem and the PC, Wireless game adapter attached to the ethernet port of the wii. Job done.

shouldn't have to do anything at all to the PC. as the PC and Wii would both be plugged into the router and the router plugged into the modem. would both work on their own.

Sounds as though the pc and wii aren't within practical cabling distance of each other.

Erm, seems to be a lot of suggestions from people without Wii's.

Wii does not have an ethernet port, it only has two USB connections.

It was built in Wifi, and so the easiest way to connect it would be to get a wireless router, which is not going to cost you more than £50.

How do you turn it on? or do you have to buy a USB adapter.

Turn it on?

The Wii's Wi-Fi turns itself on and will scan for nearby Access Points.

Aada, this renders your opinion moot on all things Wii :p

Cal, wireless router is all you need. Then you just play with the settings in the Wii.
What games do you have?

Cal, we're also using cable with a whole netowrk of PCs (Hmm 5 at last count) on wired and then the 360, my laptop and the Wii on the wireless - you just need to pick a router that does both. I'm not the techie one in the house but we got the router from PC after burning the old one out (oops) so they can't be too uncommon :)

And as Starman says no need for any add-ons to the Wii but you will need to give it some of your internet settings if you've set up a firewall etc to stop your neightbours using your wireless connection :)

You have to catch 2 fish, the second drops on the floor and the cat runs back to its owner's house.

and as for Wireless u can either get a Wireless router or get that Nintendo USB Wireless dongle that should pick up the Wii from the PC.

I personally wouldn't suggest getting the USB Adapter has it uses ICS (XP SP2 Only) and is rather unstable.
