Dodgy Virus Thing

I think i've somehow obtained some very crafty virus/spyware off kazaa.

Its some sort of porno server thing which no matter how much i delete with adaware keeps coming back. It then sets my homepage to www.123found.com ??

But the worse thing is its somehow installing this Network connection onto my pc, disconnecting me from my current ISP (freeserve). Then dialling up this XXX server in the background which costs god knows how much a minute.

Any suggestions as to what to do? I havnt currently got any virus scanning software at the moment

First port of call is the startup software :
most obvious, check "Startup" in start>programs>startup
Most of this sorta thing isnt that stupid though..

Start > Run > MSCONFIG
the Startup tab should list the various items which boot up on startup from within the registry. Untick the offending articles (should be quite easy to find, usually cunningly called xxxdialler.exe or something. These will also point you to their file locations too.

Unticking them only stops them from loading. run REGEDIT and hunt to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and delete the keys from in here permanently.

Try spybot search and destroy as first port of call and failing that try Hijackthis from the Spywareinfo forums where there's quite a lot of help.

That is your first port of call. As soon as you have removed the spyware, get yourself some protection.

Say if you were online for say 4 hours and this thing was on constantly for 4 hours on a premium rate line at £1 a minute, thats £240.

If you can't find or afford a virus checked then there are some good, free online ones. Such as this.
