Tanks wanted in RvR?
Just curious if tanks (heavy tanks like swordmasters) are viable in rvr. Just remembered how hard it was to get groups in DAOC on my Hero compared to playing a Blademaster or Druid.

Thanks for your reply, i just remember the Banelord discussion which made a whole archetype (heavy tanks) non viable in rvr with the exception of warriors in Midgard. Was just wondering if the entire archetype was useless in rvr.
The guard ability where the tank takes 50% of the damage directed at target you are guarding sounds useful to me. Just hopes it makes tha tank archetype a wanted charachter in rvr groups. |

tanks are useful - you've got the taunts working in RvR (either more damage or reduce their damage to everyone else), along with guard and for shield users 'hold the line' allowing your tank to help mitigate a lot of damage.
Can also load up on a 2h weapon and play as a very tenacious melee dps - you'll never do anywhere near the damage but you'll be that much harder to kill while you're annoying the hell out of their healers.

offensive, they'll harras/kill casters while they can't kill them on their own the best rvr grps consist of a balance between archtypes |

For the ironbreaker half of their abilities protect a group member or give all around damage mitigation to everyone in the group, or reduce enemies damage. They also have snares, roots, knock downs and knock backs, some are aoe effect. And I think skills that are alike to Grapple / Purge / Stoicism in daoc comes as standard for tanks in war.
And don't forget collision detection that was interesting in guild wars.
